This foot works and works well. It does take a minute to figure it out, but once you do it makes all the difference in your sewing. I bought this specifically to use with some silk fabric I bought that is horribly difficult to cut straight. I have a Singer machine with a snap on low shank presser foot adapter
So to use it:
1) You have to remove your presser foot shank. This won't snap on. In order to get mine on I have to completely remove the screw not just unscrew it.
2) The little wrench looking bit on the right slips onto the screw that holds the needle on. Slide this onto the machine before sliding the holder bit on.
3) Slip the metal bit on the left like you would your presser foot shank. Screwing this on takes a little finesse. It may be easier if you are left handed, since the screw is on the left. I'm not very coordinated. I usually drop the screw a couple of times.
4) You are good to go. In order to use the foot you have to cut a notch out of the seam of your fabric (L-shaped). You raise the presser foot, place your fabric underneath it like you would any other fabric with any other foot, and then lower the presser foot. Then, the left side of the foot pivots up so you can pull the fabric you want cut in front of the cutting wheel. If you havent hand cut a section you wont be able to do this.

---You have to sew slow. Sometimes the fabric that is cut will fall to the left. Stop and use a needle to push it to the right or it will be pulled into the stitches and make your edge look messy. There is a bar on this just like an overlock stitch foot that your needle has to straddle (you have to use either a zig-zag or overlock stitch)

---Keep in mind that the cutting wheel doesn't pivot and you can't pull fabric underneath it.Read more ›

Works exactly as promised. Took a few seconds of playing to do so as the directions weren't as clear as they could be. But overall not too difficult.
I have an old Kenmore and this has opened up new possibilities for me.

Really does a neat job at sewing and cutting like a serger, without the serger! It's best to not pack too much fabric and not too heavy weight fabrics, because it will not work as nicely. Other than that, it is making my life a little easier around collars and arms! ;) I recommend it.

I love the designs that can be created using my various stitches from my machine. I originally intended to use this with my quilts for part of my quilting stitches. The fact that the material has to actually rotate 360 degrees seriously limits the size of piece I can use it on. The bulk of a quilt sandwich (face, batting, and backing) makes it difficult to get the piece under the presser foot. I still plan to use it, just on small pieces and probably just as decorative touches here an there.

I have a Janome New Home 2030DC. The side cutter did not fit the shank and the blade did not cut clearly (which may have resulted from the misfit). Instructions were in bad English but decipherable after I watched a tutorial on-line about how to use it . I returned the item and so far it seems that my money was returned to me immediately.

This was a waste of money. The presser foot did not fit the machine nor did the blade come in contact with fabric. If you are planning to purchase this item, don't. I have been sewing for more than 40 years and this is an item I would not endorse.
