Kalorik 900-Watt 8-10-Cup Coffeemaker with Stainless-Steel Carafe

I wanted just a basic coffee maker with a thermal carafe--no frills, just good hot coffee. After purchasing this one, it inexplicably stopped working after using it twice. After a bit of e-mailing back and forth with customer service at Kaloric (they were very nice) they sent me a new coffee maker free of charge. The issues I have with this coffee maker is that it takes well over 1/2 of an hour to brew a pot of coffee! Also, the resulting coffee is highly inconsistent. The first cup is very weak the last very strong. Another complaint I have is that it is nearly impossible to pour water into the reservoir or pour a cup of coffee without making a complete mess--very frustrating! I can't wait to get rid of this and get something that actually works!

This is a good buy for the buck. It is a very basic appliance, good for me, a basic type person. The only thing that I find that could use improvement is that the pouring spout is too small so you have to pour it out very slowly or it will drip all over your counter. It does take a longer time to brew then all of the other coffee makers that I have had in the past, but the coffee comes out great, so it is worth it. The combination of the warming plate and the thermos allow the coffee to stand for several hours without destroying the fresh taste of the brew.

The coffeemaker did not come with any coffee filters, so make sure that you pick some up upon ordering the product. They are not the standard coffee filter generally found in all grocery stores.

First, the capacity is misrepresented. This is just barely 8-cup capacity, and that's at the smaller standard cup size (5oz.) not the more correct 6oz size. I'm angry that Amazon would claim otherwise.

What's worse is that this device is dangerous. The tank is very, very easy to overfill causing a messy and dangerous overflow of the pot. There is no protection against overfilling such as an overflow hole, and the tank can hold WAY more than the pot can hold with dramatic results.

The build is flimsy and cheap. The thermos is inconvenient and hard to pour neatly. At $55, this was way overpriced.

It makes a quick cup of coffee (fast) almost impossible to pour a cup without running down the sides. Have to remember to redirect lid half turn to keep coffee warm. Even so I need, after a short time 30 min. to reheat in Microwave. Be sure and read directions before using and follow to a tee.

Top recommendation from Consumer Reports, so we bought it and are quite happy with the results. Note: Amazon was terrific about replacing our first one, which had a broken piece inside, but the company was a problem to deal with when the carafe broke (our fault!). We did get it replaced, but I would recommend dealing with Amazon, if you decide to buy it, rather than another retailer.

This is our second Kalorick Coffeemaker with the stainless steel Carafe. Our first one was over 3 years old when we purchased this one. Wanting something simple, this model is a slam dunk, On or Off is your only choice. Filling your first cup of coffee after brewing is challenging but can be done with practice. We keep the unit on up to an hour after brewing to keep the carafe warm for up to 5 hours. Hopefully this will provide as good as service as our last Kalorik.

My other Kaloric died after 5 or 6 yrs and I liked the simplicity and great coffee it makes so...
