The product was not nearly as nice as the Breville SK500XL Ikon Stainless-Steel Electric Kettle we bought when this one suddenly stopped working after six months.
First of all, if you showed me this kettle and asked me what it was made of, my first reaction would be "shiny metal-look plastic." Second of all, after it completely conked out after only six months of moderate use, the seller, PRESENTS FOR US, completely ignored all my communications trying to get the product replaced. Third of all, I emailed Kalorik no less than four times in an attempt to take advantage of their alleged "one year warranty" and once again, received absolutely zero response. At the end of the day, I would never purchase another product from PRESENTS FOR US nor would I buy anything from Kalorik. There are so many better options.

Disappointing...,

What we have here is just another made in China item from an unworthy manufacturer.
1) This "stainless steel / glass" kettle does contain small plastic parts on the inside below the water line. 2) While there is a plate on the inside at the bottom over the heating element, the plate seems to be made of an inferior material. It developed spots (looks like rust to me) after the first couple of uses. 3) There is a gap / seam around that plate on the inside at the bottom where water can collect and stay in invisible / inaccessible places. 4) These parts of the kettle are just about impossible to wipe down because of narrow height of the kettle and lid design. 5) Some water will always stay in the kettle no matter how you try to empty it because of lid / spout design. 6) Not made in USA The kettle retains a 2nd star since it does boil water quickly and does seem solid. The design of the external base is pleasing. The toggle switch on the kettle itself is sexy. It is, however, by no means "green," healthy or made by a trustworthy manufacturer. The chamber which contains the water is NOT made out of solid, stable non-reactive materials. At this very moment it is probably leaching chemicals including toxins from plastics, nickel, glues, or coatings into the water. I'm looking for a replacement...

beautiful design, poor quality control,

I was looking for a kettle with no plastic-water contact. This one is
aesthetically pleasing and uses only a little plastic. Unfortunately, mine will not boil water because the sensor shuts off as soon as the water even begins to get warm. Poor quality control! It's going back of course. The top is glass but contains various plastic parts inside. Also, there is the ubiquitous plastic water level gizmo, which is really unneeded in this design, since the top is so easy to open (push the thumb button). If the manufacturer got rid of the water level thing and a little more plastic inside, and also got their switches and sensors under control, it could be a winner. As it is, don't bother.

I've been using this kettle for a month now and only now read the reviews. I am really surprised by previous reviews. My kettle works just fine, it is easy to clean, the heating element becomes shiny and looks new after just one boiling with lemon juice. Very easy to maintain and it looks great.
I havn't seen any rust or spots that cant be cleaned that I read about in previous reviews. 4 stars- pricey

Broke after 3 months of moderate use.
Very plasticy made in China Takes along time to boil. Little plastic pieces inside the lid broke, lid doesnt come off, makes it very hard to clean. I bought it because it looks good in the picture, it's a peace of junk.

Stainless-Steel???,

I discovered today that this kettle is not stainless steel - it's chrome and glass according to the box it came in. The spout drips water at the top, if you tilt the kettle a little to far it drips water at the lid. You have to pour very very slowly to prevent all the dripping every where. I will not buy this kettle again. The only positive is the appearance!

I don't know what all the problems people are having with this kettle. First of all, why do you need to get it dry? I've had this almost a year, use it several times/day. I always keep a little water in it and I have no spots of any kind in it. Second, you can't run the kettle without the filter in place or it won't shut off, which is stated in the info given with the kettle. It doesn't leak and it isn't cheap plastic. The only potential negatives are that it needs the filter to work properly and is a little loud.

UPDATE: Had the unit for over a year and the unit is still going strong. Easy to clean and I find that I can leave water in the unit without ill effect on the unit or water. I use it almost daily. Guests have commented on its good look.
This is an elegant and simple w-kettle to use. I found the water to heat quickly and the unit makes no more noise than what I would expect to come from a heating water in a kettle. The unit shuts itself off when completed and the water stays warm for quite a while. This is a wonderful unit. I have had it for almost a month.

Faulty Kalorik Kettles,

I had a total of 3 of these Kalorik kettles all of which did not turn off, rather, if left unattended would boil dry.
There is definitely a serial defect with this model. In all fairness the dealer did without any problem replace the first 2 kettles. I still have a kettle which does not turn itself off automatically. The fault is squarely with kalorik, who are still selling this potentially dangerous product.

Yes it boils water, but....
the spout has an annoying filter which prevents full flowing water - I had to pop the filter out. the auto shut-off is not working on mine which is a safety issue it feels heavy in your hand, not an ergonomic design this one has a very limited lifespan in my kitchen, it will be meeting the trash can soon. |
