5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful coffeemaker
I loved the way this coffee maker fit in with my decor! My only complaint is that when you pour coffee out of the carafe, it drips back and you can't avoid coffee on your counter. Very annoying. If this annoys you, don't buy this coffee maker. I overlook low tech for decor.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not to Expectations
I like the look of this coffee maker- and the removeable water tank (no water to spill while filling). It brews relatively fast, coffee tastes good, but no automatic shutoff!! The on/off switch feels flimsy and the entire base the pot sits on gets VERY HOT- (not just the warming plate, but the whole bottom, too). I'll be returning and keep looking....

2.0 out of 5 stars Could have been a 5 star coffee pot, October 5, 2010
This review is from: Kalorik CM-17442 Aqua Line 10-Cup Coffeemaker, Chrome/Glass (Kitchen)
I fell in love with this coffee maker the moment I saw it and continued to like it for the next few days. Very quickly I noticed two design flaws. First, near the top of the unit opposite where the water comes out, there is small pocket that collects a lot of water. This water eventually overflows and drips behind the plastic holder that holds the coffee and falls onto the hot pad when you remove the pot. Second, the glass pot itself is seriously flawed in its design. The lid is made of metal, which is a pleasant addition, but the neck is plastic and unable to to sustain the weight of the lid for very long. Mine snapped after about two months. Another problem with the glass pot is that when you pour out the coffee, no matter at what angle, the coffee runs down the side of the pot creating a small puddle of coffee on the counter each time you pour. A third flaw with this coffee maker took about four months to discover. This maker brews coffee extra hot but after four months, the intense heat or steam has caused the chrome paint on the top lid (where you add the coffee) to chip away. Overall, the pot was wonderfully conceived but evidently was released without thorough testing beforehand. The appearance and European design touches are appreciated but unfortunately are not enough to recommend this coffee maker.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good Coffeemaker, May 3, 2010

This is a pretty good coffeemaker. The lid over the water does not stay up when you want to remove the water reservoir. The base around the hot plate heats up as well. Very hot, if you try to push the coffeemaker by grabbing the base, you will burn yourself. It makes pretty good coffee, these other things are really minor nuisances. If you touch the base of the coffeemaker once, you will not touch it again.

2.0 out of 5 stars One Sexy Coffee Maker!, April 14, 2010

This review is from: Kalorik CM-17442 Aqua Line 10-Cup Coffeemaker, Chrome/Glass (Kitchen)
This coffee maker is beautiful! This being said, looks are not always the best judge of something. The coffee pot itself is small - much smaller than other 10 cup pots i've had in the past. It takes a VERY long time to brew and even though it it not supposed to need a filter, if you do not use one you get a pot full of coffee grounds!

I debated whether to return this or not but decided to keep it because if its looks. I did keep my old brewer as a stand by in the event this one pisses me off.

4.0 out of 5 stars Super Slim, June 6, 2010
This review is from: Kalorik CM-17442 Aqua Line 10-Cup Coffeemaker, Chrome/Glass (Kitchen)
Bottom Line: This is the thinnest coffee maker on the market.

Recently renovated our kitchen and added a countertop appliance garage. Put a compact microwave in it and then hoped to slip a coffee maker beside it. Our old coffee maker was too wide, and I had a hard time finding one that wasn't too wide, even the small 4-cup makers. Finally found this one - it's only 5.5" wide, so it fits perfectly.

All the negatives people mention are true - it is tricky to pour without dripping onto the countertop (but I just turn around and pour over the sink) and there are no settings for this thing (just an on and off switch). But I'm no coffee snob, and being able to keep my coffee maker hidden away in my appliance garage is great. So if you need a slim coffee maker, this one is for you.

3.0 out of 5 stars love the style but.., November 29, 2011
This review is from: Kalorik CM-17442 Aqua Line 10-Cup Coffeemaker, Chrome/Glass (Kitchen)
I bought this coffee maker a year ago.. its beautiful.. in fact i bought the whole set (toaster, blender) within the first month the top of the coffee maker (where the steam comes out) started to ripple up. (its not all crome)then the spring which lets the coffee come out came apart when i went to clean it. (So if I take the coffee pot out from under the coffee maker, it continues to drain) then the top of the coffee pot fall off.. but it still works.. who needs a top lol. It still looks good on my counter.. but i wont be replacing it with the same one. :(

The look of this coffee maker is 5 stars. -Gorgeous! I love that you can pull out the water tank, easy to handle as it has a carrying handle. The coffee tastes great; I grind my own. My choice is the Ruta Maya Organic Brand
(and always use filtered water) smooth and delicious. I would only add two things to this coffee maker; an auto off function and a preset function. I also bought the matching toaster.

2.0 out of 5 stars Strange shape, January 16, 2012
This review is from: Kalorik CM-17442 Aqua Line 10-Cup Coffeemaker, Chrome/Glass (Kitchen)
Just took it out of the box and will be returning it tomorrow. Strange shape - very very narrow, which explains why it's pictured practically sideways. I put it out on the counter in front of the plug and it wasn't even wide enough to cover the double plug in the wall. You could see the wall plug and the black cord - an ugly black cord!!!! Why black? There's no way to hide the black cord behind the narrow body of the thing. That ruined the pretty all chrome/stainless look - the plug and the black cord. I tried wrapping up the cord and tying it with a twist tie but it still stuck out.

Ugly, ugly, ugly: the pretty coffee maker and the black cord showing all over my white caesarstone counter. I tried turning it sideways, like it's shown in the ads, but even that didn't improve the "look" of the thing. It's just too narrow to hide the plug and cord. Maybe it wouldn't look so strange if the cord was the see-through type, so the coffee maker needs some re-design. It needs to be wider unless you're prepared to have a coffee maker turned almost sideways on your counter. Just looked all wrong. Ideally, you want the coffee maker to stand in front of the plug, and cover it. Not a clean look otherwise. I want a coffee maker to LOOK GOOD on the counter. This one looks good in a picture, but in your house - no!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth your effort, buy a different brand/model!, February 25, 2012

This review is from: Kalorik CM-17442 Aqua Line 10-Cup Coffeemaker, Chrome/Glass (Kitchen)
We bought the Onyx black model (slightly different - Kalorik Black Onyx 10-Cup Coffee Maker)from MyHabit for 49.95, mostly because of the looks and price. I still like the look, however here is why you should avoid buying the coffee maker:

1) We have never succeeded in poring a drip-free cup of coffee. I think this is because of the metal lit on the carafe. It seems to collect water while brewing coffee and consequently drips... very annoying
2) We bought the coffee maker end of October 2011, it is now broken (mid-Feb 2012). The heating element is bust, it does no longer brew or heat.
3) Warranty is disappointing (compare with the new coffee maker we bought)

Of course our coffee maker broke in the morning, so much for starting the day on a good cup of coffee...

Called Kalorik - nice and friendly folks, no complaints there - but were told we needed to ship the coffee maker to them at OUR expense. They would then replace the unit and send it to us. Because of the instant "we'll replace it" I think that they have seen more of these issues. We were also told that we must ship it back in packaging that prevents any damage to the unit (e.g. it will be refurbished and resold).

Since they were going to ship a replacement we told them we have no interest in paying for the return. It is clearly warranty and clearly not performing as expected. I'd offer to return the unit, after they immediately ship us a new unit at their expense, but only if they pay for return shipping. The counter offer was that they will ship a new unit - place a hold on my credit card for 79.95 and then expect me to still pay for shipping the old unit back... That is when we gave up. This also came with the note that this was because we paid MyHabit instead of Kalorik... Not sure what that means, I guess they prefer to not have you buy from retailers.

Why is this significant?

We now bought the Cuisinart 1200 Cuisinart DCC-1200 Brew Central 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker, Black/Brushed Metal for 79.95 (not at Amazon since we wanted it right away).

The warranty of this roughly similar priced machine is 3 years vs. a 1 year from Kalorik. Kalorik requires (I checked their warranty) the consumer to always pay for shipping of the old unit, Cuisinart does limit the cost to $10 when shipping. More importantly, Cuisinart states that if you are in California, shipping the defective unit back is at Cuisinart's expense.

All in all, we thought we had bought a quality coffee maker with great looks. It turned out to be a total bust.

And if you are not convinced about the warranty, just be aware that you will be wiping your counter tops all the time because of the dripping carafe.

End-to-end bad experience.
