I brew a lot of coffee and have used many coffeemakers over the years. You can believe I've learned to handle the fragile carafes with care as well as keep the appliances clean, etc. Despite said care and cleanliness, after a relatively short time, the carafe cracked on its bottom for some unknown reason. I chose not to try replacing it as it was rather non-standard with a deep-set bottom. Off brands can be fine in coffeemakers, but this one wasn't.
