4.0 out of 5 stars Dreadful Shadows frontman -Sven Friedrich- does it again!!, January 13, 2004

Good CD, my thumbs up all the way. If you liked Gothic rockers, Dreadful Shadows (Sven's past band) You'll probably like Zeraphine too. Although not exactly like Shadows, as far as music goes. If you loved Sven's poetic lyrics before, wait 'til you hear what he did with the German language. A language bands like Rammstein are mocking. Making it look like it's merely for anger and metal heads, Sven turns into a beautifully dark meiotic language. Take that and place it with the wonderful electronica style darkwave. The melodies are extremely well done on this CD (Especially Track 2 - Die Wirklichkeit). If you are a Gothic music fan, or even a light electronica fan, you should really look into this CD. Also, even though it's not on Amazon, you should look into Zeraphine's newer CD - "Traumaworld", which is mainly English and is FAR superior to "Kalte Sonne" (Despite that "Kalte Sonne" is excellent itself.) You can find it here Song Search No, I didn't get payed to say that. . . >_> Just thinking of the peoples.

5.0 out of 5 stars great album, March 25, 2006

I bought this album when I went to munich, germany.
At that time I wasn't quite sure if this album is equal of better than Sven's previous band, but I'm wrong.
He's getting better I tell you.
Too bad amazon.com only has this album, and too bad for me I only bought this one when there's more albums when I'm in Munich.

5.0 out of 5 stars Of Shadows and Angels..., March 25, 2004

I agree with the previous review in ways words cannot even begin to describe. Sven Friedrich's new band, Zeraphine, is not exactly what Dreadful Shadows was, musically speaking, but the feeling Sven put into all of his songs in Dreadful Shadows is present here. NOW, musically speaking, I feel that Kalte Sonne is the natural evolution of Sven's art. Taking into account the style in each DS album, Kalte Sonne is the perfect follow-up for The Cycle (and Traumaworld for Kalte Sonne). Both Zeraphine albums are less "dense" than those of Dreadful Shadows, but the melancholic feel is there, ever present, permeating the whole of the album.
I also have to mention (or rather reaffirm, again agreeing with the other review) that Traumaworld is far superior than Kalte Sonne, and Kalte Sonne is already a masterwork...
