More About the Author

As a speaker, teacher, and author, Lisa has spoken to thousands of adults, youth, children, and women's ministries since her teen years. Since her own life and world view was totally transformed by the timeless truth of God's Word, she is passionate to bring an awakening and equipping message of hope to a confused generation. Her compassionate and yet penetrating style captivates audiences of all ages as they laugh and cry their way to change.

Lisa has seen a lot in 29 years of parenting her 10 kids (and yes, they are all biological with the same set of parents and no twins)! But the experience of bringing her oldest daughter through the crisis of being sexually abused by a member of her church was unlike anything she was prepared for. On the victory side of the pain, she is equipped to share the essential keys to successfully protect and navigate a generation in trouble through times of crisis. Her message is a now word for the body of Christ equipping us to survive the pressures of this dark age. Lisa tours with Teen Mania's Acquire the Fire Tour as a conference speaker and she ministers to thousands of parents across the nation every year. She has been interviewed on Moody Radio,, American Priorities, and American Family Radio.

Doug, Lisa and their family have pastored Victory Dream Center in Carbondale, Illinois for the past fourteen years. Together they also founded REALITY Youth Center, Frontline Family Ministries, and POTTS (Parents of Teens and Tweens), a national coalition building the next generation by equipping parents. Lisa has her BS in Nursing from Southern Illinois University and has enjoyed 32 precious years of marriage to her best friend, Doug. Her books include Not Open, Unmask the Predators, and Stick!.

In my fifty-five years of being a Christian and thirty-five years of ministry I have read thousands of self-help books and written a few. Family Secrets Search for Peace
Rarely have I come across a book that has the overall life changing potential as Kalyn's Secret. Lisa and Kalyn Cherry have written an expose' on an evil that is too prevelant and too often hidden...sexual predetors in the church hidding behind ministry.

Like beautiful Kalyn, the perfect daughter in a loving pastor's family, too many of our children are exposed to these agents of destruction and we, their fathers, mothers, and spiritual leaders too often ignor the signs and get into denial about the trap satan has set for them. Well no more! We now have a detailed 'red flag' handbook on what to look for as well a scriptual road map out. It gives new meaning to the phrase' no child left behind' as we see how they refused to allow evil to keep Kalyn in his grasp.

Kalyn and her mom rip the blinders off our eyes showing us a darkness we do not see and give concrete answers. Sharing their own guilt and confusion they open their wounded souls until we actually feel their pain and weep with them as they share the dark night of a families soul that lasted for years and yet by following 'The Plan' God laid out for them they walked through in glorious victory.

This book should be mandatory reading in every School of Ministry everywhere.

A must read for anyone who has children as well as anyone who is thinking of having children. It is a guideline and source of parenting teens.
I have read many books in my life, but none have touched me as as much as this book. I shed many tears of sadness as well as tears of joy at what this family has gone through and overcome.
As a victim myself, I know all too well the consequences that result from sexual abuse. The guilt, the shame, the teenage rebellion, etc.
I wish that I would have had this book when I had my children. It would have given me the parenting skills that I needed to be a good Christian parent.

Parents must get their heads out of the sand! Our children are at risk from evil forces all around...sexual predators, drugs, food disorders, addictive behaviors of all kinds. If this can happen to the Cherry family, it can happen to yours! But learn from their road to recovery... and, perhaps most importantly, discover the signals they missed so you won't be caught unaware. Please read the book--and perhaps save a child and family from despair.

I couldn't put this book down as I read the engrossing story of Kalyn's desperate struggle for freedom from the trauma of sexual abuse and manipulation, and Lisa's valiant battle for her daughter's soul. I read portions to my husband aloud, discussing ways we can protect our own child from predators. Tears came as I related to Lisa's compelling and transparent account in the midst of an impossible parenting situation.

I'm mailing this book to a mom I know whose daughter is currently trapped in a deceptive sexual relationship, and loaning my own to my sister who has a similar story as Kalyn's, but with a younger man who committed suicide.
