5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE THIS CD!!
I saw the video, then I wanted the music. But you don't need to see the movie to enjoy the soundtrack! Kama Sutra has many beautiful, relaxing melodies. There are some haunting, powerful songs as well. Those who saw the video will recognize the song playing when Maya's lover was killed. This is an excellent soundtrack. 1.0 out of 5 stars Kama Sutra: tale of love
Some small pearls but over all pieces are too short and over westernized.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great album...IF YOU'RE INTO WORLD MUSIC ALREADY!, March 9, 2000

One of the things that stood out most about the film in the first place was the music. It was simply magnificent and drew you into the story and ideas of the movie. Without the pictures in front of you, the CD itself simply soars. The textures and arrangements of the songs is magnificent, and it's a must own for ANYONE who's already a fan of world music, particularly Indian music. If you aren't, about 4 tracks will stick to you anyway. An okay way to introduce someone to Indian/world music, but there are more accesible first-starts.

5.0 out of 5 stars ...sandalwood from mysore..., March 25, 2002
fills the senses. absolutely. as sexy as anything. if you have seen the movie, this is a treat. perhaps people from India who have more background on the culture think it is cheesy. i wouldnt know. i enjoy the sounds for the emotions they invoke, not the cultural accuracy. the movie is visually...oh, just see it.

5.0 out of 5 stars moving and haunting and versatile, March 15, 1999

I've wanted this music since the first time I heard it on the movie. It truly is haunting and beautiful. Great for a relaxing introspective evening alone or to share with intimate friends. Just as enjoyable when heard first thing in the morning as a energizing and positive charge for the day!

4.0 out of 5 stars very different and original music, October 8, 1999
By A Customer
I am a fan of good music like enigms, deep forest, vangelis, pink floyd, wes and other artists like these. When i heard mychael danna or the first time in Exotica, I was stunned by his originality. Same is with the Kamasutra. It is great music.

The songs are sensual, calming, meditative and spiritual. If you appreciate different cultures, this album is for you. Whenever i play this album i turn all the lights out, and light candles, burn incense and meditate. I highly recommend this album with monsoon wedding soundtrack. Everyone i know loves this album. Get it.

5.0 out of 5 stars FABULOUS!, December 6, 2000

This is one of my all-time favorite CDs. It is absolutely impossible to listen to it without moving! I have used it in belly dance performances on several occasions. Everyone should own this CD. The music ranges from dreamy and etherial (Maya's Theme) to pounding drums (Biki is Insulted) and one of my personal favorites, Examining Examining (to which I do the Mirror Dance) and Jewel of the Gutter (perfect for taqsims).

5.0 out of 5 stars It made me want to go to India!, February 24, 2000

It is absolutely one of most interesting soundtracks to a movie I have ever experienced. It is so moving, it, like the movie brings tears to my eyes. The musical synchronization with the visualization of the movie is pure genius.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kama Sutra = Beautiful Movie, Beautiful Music, June 27, 2005
This review is from: Kama Sutra (Audio CD)
Love the movie...cinematography is wonderful, a truely beautiful movie, everything is a feast for the eyes. The soundtrack is just as good, perfect blend of exotic music that can be enjoyed lounging around or even bellydanced to.

5.0 out of 5 stars This soundtrack is very erotic, so just relax and enjoy., January 3, 1999
By A Customer
I borrowed this soundtrack from a friend of mine...from the first track to the last I was captivated. The music is very moving...it brings to life every inch of your body...and that is without even watching the movie. You must allow yourself the pleasure of relaxing and listening to this soundtrack, you will not regret it.
