Product Description

Amazon.com

This revolving spice rack takes the challenge out of keeping herbs and spices organized. On the countertop or in a tall kitchen cabinet, it holds 16 clear plastic jars prefilled with a variety of seasonings. Measuring 10-1/2 inches tall and made of natural wood, the rack maintains jars on their side, so it's easy to read the label printed on the cap. Each rack comes with a different set of common herbs and spices, such as basil, dill, and parsley, plus unique custom blends, such as pizza, Cajun, and fish seasonings. --Lynne Sampson

The site is having server problems which prevents the refill order from being placed and customer service will not respond to my requests to fix it.

The racks were not glued to the top or the bottom and fell apart when open trying to use.

First, the product description says the unit measures 11.8 X 7.5

Then further in the product review, it states the rack measures 10 1/2 by 5 3/4. Well, the unit actually measures 11" high by 6" wide. Then, it states TWICE in the description that the rack comes with 16 GLASS containers filled with spices. The containers are a cheap PLASTIC.

Based on the product review, I purchased 2 Racks to give as gifts, but after the mis-measurement and flimsy Plastic containers ( that will eventually hold odors), I promptly returned them. Amazon.com should really correct this innacurate & misleading product listing.

First of all, the spices (packed in the USA) consisted of the following: Chopped Basil, Chopped Bay Leaves, Caraway Seed, Celery Salt, Coriander Seed, Crushed Mint, Dill Weed, Italian Seasoning, Marjoram, Mustard Seed, Oregano, Parsley, Pizza Seasoning, Rosemary, Savory and Thyme. All of these have some fairly common uses and I would encourage the reader to purchase 'The Spice and Herb Bible' by Ian Hemphill which will go into some detail on each.

What really irritates me is that (perhaps due to the latest spike in oil prices)the spices were packaged in plastic rather than in the preferred, heavier weight glass jars. Since none of the other reviewers pointed this out, it must be a fairly recent change.

The wooden carousel is glued rather than nailed or joined so, over time, it will come apart.

I like the design of this spice rack. It doesn't take up much space in the kitchen and is easily accessible due to its' rotating base. Some of the spices are things I've never heard of despite years of cooking items of different tastes. One of the lids wouldn't screw in right, and some of the jars won't fit into some of the holes. It's a quality beech wood item though, and the spices are all fresh and quality.

i was pleasantly surprised when i got this to see the spices were included. while i have several spices, it came with a lot i did not have so i was very happy about that. it is a very nice looking rack and that combined with the spices being included made it a great steal for the $15 it costs. the only downside is like the previous poster commented on - the plastic cover with the holes is VERY hard to take off. i tried several times with one of the spices and gave up as it was on the verge of breaking. i do not know why they are so hard to take off - its almost like they are glued on. my purchase also came with a redemption code for 5 years of free spice refills, you only pay s&h. i looked all over the Kamenstein web site and nowhere does it mention how much s&h is and i am not signing up unless i know the price because i can go to my local grocery store and get large bottles of spices for $1 and just refill it with those.

The description said "glass" jars, these were plastic. Someone needs to update this item.

I've been trying for the past 2 months to get the "free refills" promised to be obtainable for 5 years after purchase of the rack. The site is having server problems which prevents the refill order from being placed and customer service will not respond to my requests to fix it. The free refill perk is the main reason I purchased their spice rack, since I do a lot of cooking.

The main problem was that over half of the jars had broken caps. Some were actuallt in tiny pieces.

I purchased 2 of these based on some of the reviews I read. I am SO disappointed. The plastic jars do not have enough weight to make them stay in the rack properly, and I could see right away that they would always be falling out and that would annoy me. Also one of the racks was not screwed onto the revolving part, so I had to find a screwdriver to put it together. After seeing how the bottles of spices would not stay in their places, I decided to send these back. I would NOT recommend this item to anybody. Sorry.
