My Favorite drumnbass album,
By
This review is from: Kamikaze (Audio CD)
found this odd little cd buried somewhere in a major music store and bought it on a whim due to the "sounds like photek and aphex twin" sticker on it. it turns out a couple years later this still stands up as my favorite drumnbass album, and I used it as my primary demo cd when purchasing my latest stereo system. the uneven but strangely addicting rhythms, the excellent sound quality, and odd noises can put you in a hypnotic state. this is also clearly superior to icarus' other main release "fijaka" but perhaps not quite as good as parts of icarus' more difficult to find "squid ink," which is so experimental i wouldn't consider it drumnbass at all.

Incredible album for dreary cultured ambient D'n'B,
By Andrew Engwall (Silicon Valley, Cali') - See all my reviews

This album is amazing! The textures that this duo came up with are intriguing. The mix of soundscapes and odd instrumentation are beautiful like touring the country of Japan in a speedtrain on an over-cast day. I picked this album up when it came out and had it stolen but something in the back of my brain begged me to buy it again. To this day it is a source of inspiration. During every listening session I find some nuance that I had missed before. Kamikaze isn't for everyone and should only be picked up by the most open minded and machine loving audiophile.

This album is the shiznizzle bamboozles,
This review is from: Kamikaze (Audio CD)
I heard this album around 2001 and I thought it was awesome. Drum 'n bass/jungle had it's day, but I would have to argue that back in 1999 (when this album was released) a lot of magical things were going on with music. This album has great samples and offers the listener a perspective as to what jungle can be. Kamikaze is great for people that can get into music without somebody having to sell them something. This type of music is a mind trip, which a lot of people will never understand because it is missing things like a 'hook' or something that brainwashes you into thinking that you like this. If you like banging beats and you like 'new' genres of music like dub step, then listen to this album because it helped build the path for it. I give this 5 estrellas, y si no te gusta, pues vete mucho a la ....

cold and dark,
By
This review is from: Kamikaze (Audio CD)
this music is very cold, and dark. it's drum and bass obviously but I didn't care for it much.. it's inhuman, and lifeless yet rhythmically accurate. I can't imagine the kind of person that would really "get into" this music, but I'd have a hard time believing that they were anything other than evil.
