![]() The built-in cot holds the entire tent several inches off the ground. |
The tent is made of heavy-duty, weatherproof 210D nylon, with no-see-um fly mesh on all windows and doors to keep bugs out while letting ventilation in. Other construction details include triangular windows that close while inside the tent, taped seams, a heavy-duty powder-coated steel frame, and easy-to-use corrosion-resistant zippers. And campers will love the easy-pitch design, which sets up in less than a minute. The TentCot--which packs down to a compact 6-by-6-by-42-inch footprint--comes with all the required accessories: ground pegs, a rainfly, superior-quality clips and buckles, two carrying bags, and an under-bed storage net.

Fabulous Shelter Option,

I chose this model over the more popular flat roof one because of the extra headroom and pleasing half dome shape and I liked the option of just using the cot without the tent. It takes a little more time to set up the tent part, but the clips make it super easy and the poles stay in place while you do it, so no problem for one person to set up and I'm only 5'3". The spreader bars hold the poles in place and also offer a place to hang my pac towel to dry! I also like how the tent part zips onto the cot--there is only one way it can zip--and I like how the ends velcro to the bottom edge of the cot at each end. The screened windows gave me a nice view and plenty of ventilation which is needed in such a narrow tent. It is also very durable. I had three boys playing in it quite vigorously and nothing gave way. The pockets inside were very handy too. There's even a water bottle holder. The fly also goes on the tent easily although the ties that hold it to the legs are a little flimsy. I was camping in a backyard so being off the ground did not impact the lawn. This tent cot could go anywhere if you can carry it in. It's on the heavy side for walking very far, but the bag it comes in has very long handles that help and the load is nicely balanced being long and narrow. I couldn't be more pleased and it's so cute it offers a lot of entertainment value to those I visit and for pictures.

Kamp-Rite Compact Collapsable Tent Cot,

I did a trial put together in my back garden, the instructions are terrible but fortunately it turned out to be fairly intuitive. In fact I'd have put it together quicker without the instructions. Now that I have done it once, I realize how easy it is and believe I could put it together in less than 2 minutes.
I appears given the materials used and how claustrophobic it is inside, condensation is going to be a real issue. However, other than that I'm very happy with it. It is quick and easy to put together (once you've done it once), it's not unreasonably heavy assuming your not going back packing, it packs to a reasonable size and is very comfortable. Though, that being said, wish I had reached deeper in my pocket for the oversized option. If you are a guy and anything more than average in size my recommendation would be to get the oversized option! Given the cot weight, this is not something you'd take back packing with you, so sacrificing the additional weight for the extra space is worth it in my opinion.

I would have given this tent five stars, but there were no instructions for assembly to speak of, just a photo. I felt as if they gave me a photo and said do, like I was supposed to back engineer it.
Once figured out its simple to re-do, but it took my wife hours to figure out. I walked away anf got a coffeee while shaking my head. I felt like the monkeys in 2001 a Space Odysee. After all that its awesome . Comfortable sturdy, great looking and my kid uses it as a bed He is nine and sometimes my 80lb Golden retriever sleeps in it with him. It fit my wife and son fine. Its really fun and rugged. It comes with dual flaps of screen and shutter on both sides. Great for the handicapped as you just roll out of it and put your feet down. Also great for rain or snow as it id about two feet off the floor give or take. Worth the hefty price.
