Wonderfully written, and edited marvelously. A fun and even educational read. Our 50th state has much more going for it than tourism and pineapples. Buy it. Read it. Love it!

Great Read,

Love this latest book by Mike Farris. It is a page turning thriller intermixed with the local flavor of Hawaii, a la Magnum PI. I see a limitless future for Mr. Farris, as long as he continues to produce such winning prose.

Great Reading,
This review is from: Kanaka Blues (Paperback)
A great mystery with more twists and turns than the Road to Hana, set against the historical backdrop of the Hawaiian Sovereignty Movement. My bookshelf could use more books like this one.

My wife and sister-in-law bullied me into reading this mystery set in Hawaii. I'm a big fan of Hawaii, so I gave in. It had me going from the start. I never heard of this Farris guy, but if his future books are this good, I'll be waiting at the bookstore for the next one. I also like the design of the pages, with the 1 1/2 spacing and larger type.

I really enjoyed this read! It is fast, thrilling and suspenseful -everything a great mystery should be. I've never been to Hawaii, but the details and description of the Island and its history have convinced me that I must go. I've been a follower of Mike Farris' writing for sometime, and can't wait for his next work.

A First-Rate Thriller!,

This is a wonderful book, one of the best from Mike Farris and one of the best mystery novels I've read. The suspense is first-rate and it never lets up. Farris writes with a style that makes it nearly impossible to put the book down once you get started. His knowledge of Hawaii is extensive, and I enjoyed the descriptive detail. You will learn a good deal about the culture and heritage of Hawaii by the time you finish the book. A thoroughly fun and engaging story.

Thriller in Paradise,
By Delia Knight (Florida) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Kanaka Blues (Paperback)
Geez, I read this in one evening! As a fan of Mike Farris' non-fiction, I was ready to really enjoy this book, and he didn't disappoint me. Hawaii must be his favorite spot on Earth, as he seems to know every inch of the place. This is a fast-paced thriller with a strong and worthy female protagonist, really, really bad guys, a grumbly volcano, and even a benelovant spirit. Those folks who love Hawaii, and those concerned with sovereignty, will have something to think about. A very good read altogether.

Trouble in Paradise,
This review is from: Kanaka Blues (Paperback)
Mike Farris. Never heard of the bloke, but I do now. I was trolling for mysteries when I came across this one and gave it a try. Now I can't wait for the next one. I like lawyer based drama, anyway, so I was attracted to the write-up on it. This is a well-told story of murder and mayhem, mixed with the issue of Hawaiian soverienty. It's an eye-opener for folks who think all is well in paradise. I finally Googled Mike Farris. He's a literary agent, for pete's sake, and a practicing lawyer himself. Well, that explains things a bit. Good going, Mike, and hurry the next one along, right?
