5.0 out of 5 stars Best Introduction for Kids
This is a heartwarming and beautifully presented story for any child, but absolutely heavensent for any family with young children whose lives have been touched by a surrogate pregnancy. 3.0 out of 5 stars I wish I could
Get past the misspelling of a lot. Its a petty complaint but certainly if you are going to sell a book the spelling should be correct.
I did think the story was cute though. I was a surrogate 3 times and carried 4 babies. I bought this book for the 4th baby as a gift and look forward to giving it to her.

This is a heartwarming and beautifully presented story for any child, but absolutely heavensent for any family with young children whose lives have been touched by a surrogate pregnancy. The gently told story explains the way surrogacy unfolds in the soothing tale of a young kangaroo whose mother helps a couple realize their dream of having a child. Charmingly illustrated and beautifully written, it's a book that all children will enjoy and which will help them understand that families are made in many ways. For the children of surrogates and the families they work with, it is an invaluable resource to explain in broad strokes the process and open a discussion about what to expect.

4.0 out of 5 stars Helpful for overall surrogacy, April 1, 2008

My children 4 and 6 really like this book. I purchased it because we're going to be a surrogate for a great couple and I wanted something written for their age about surrogacy.

My only negative is that it's a bit heterosexist . . . we are helping to male kangaroos and the story is about a husband and wife kangaroo . . . perhaps I should write something :)

I gave this gift to a family that is dealing with surrogacy and couldn't find the words to explain it to there other children. It is a great book for the under 6 crowd, but over that, it did not have enough details. It is a definate buy!

I am going to be a Gestational carrier for my cousin, and have a 3 1/2 year old and a one year old. I bought this book becuase its the only book about Gestational Carriers for young children. Its great, and explains to young children in a way they can understand what I am doing and why. He is very excited about what I am doing, and understands thanks to this book. Great book and very happy with the purchase. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is going to carry a baby for someone else and has young children of their own.

I love this book. Its very cute and well written. Easy to follow for kids! I like it because, while I think the kangaroo couple is male & female, the book doesn't get too specific. That's great for alternative families. They can adapt the story to fit themselves. Great book all around.

I purchased this book for my 3 kids ages 8, 5, and 3 years old to help explain to them about surrogacy because I was going to become a surrogate. We read and re-read this book during the surrogacy and they loved it. I think it really helped them better understand the whole process of what was going on. Highly recommend for families dealing with surrogacy!

This review is from: The Kangaroo Pouch: A Story About Gestational Surrogacy For Young Children (Paperback)
I bought this book to explain to my young children (4 and 3 years old) the surrogate journey that we are about to begin as a family. The book makes it easy for them to understand and they really love it. I'm sure I will have more explaining to do as we get further into the journey, but for now they are happy and so am I!

5.0 out of 5 stars From a gestational surrogate, October 5, 2010

This review is from: The Kangaroo Pouch: A Story About Gestational Surrogacy For Young Children (Paperback)
This was a wonderful book to help my 4 year old daughter understand surrogacy. She loves her cousin, and didn't have any questions about why he was going to live with her aunt and uncle, even though he came from Mommy's tummy. I recommend this book to anyone with young children who are involved in surrogacy; best for children of a surrogate, but would also be good for children getting a new sibling. Explaining how he came out was another issue!

4.0 out of 5 stars A good conversation starter, August 10, 2009
This review is from: The Kangaroo Pouch: A Story About Gestational Surrogacy For Young Children (Paperback)
This is a good conversation starter for younger children (as the title suggests). I do like how the author shows how things will be during the surrogacy and after as it relates to the children. The only question that my daughter asked was how the baby was formed, which is not covered in the story. I would recommend this to any family that is/will take the journey of surrogacy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute, accurate story, August 8, 2011

I bought this a few years ago for my then 5-year-old when I was a surrogate. It is a cute story that she still enjoys (almost 8 now). It brings it to the child's level without intimate details, just the heart of the matter: one family giving time and effort for another family to be created. Simple and sweet.
