It doesn't get any better than this!,

The brilliance of Milt Jackson and Joe Pass are givens -- the surprise is the Basie-led rhythm section (the most laid back in all of jazz) which proves to be the perfect foil for the technical wizardry of the aforementioned Jackson and Pass. The sound created in this album is uniquely wonderful, or wonderfully unique if you like, and the next time anyone asks you why you love jazz, play this album; if they still don't "get it" then write them off as hopeless.

This is the Basie I like - The Count and a small crew.He always sounded great, but a lot of times, Basie just comped on piano and conducted his all-star big bands. Here, with a smaller group of musicians, we get to enjoy what a good piano player he was.

Basie on piano, Jackson on vibes a great pleasure,

The Basie band has unmatched drive but the Count's own playing could get lost. He's outstanding here, especially as complemented by great Milt Jackson of teh Modern Jazz Quartet. I just got the album and played it twice.
