Kansas trails,
By Heartland G (Kansas, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Kansas Wildlife (Hardcover)
I'm in love with Kansas and the prairies where I spent a lot of my childhood, I had this book once though lost it eventually, I remember it had some unusual an unexpected wildlife that I wouldn't have looked for. There are birds and I actually saw the cat on the cover (or in my case three cats!) once outside my home after a snow fall and they were amazing to see. I used to do a lot of exploring beautiful wild spots, walk for miles and miles and this book educated me a little as well as celebrated a few memories for me. It's light and sort of a coffee-table book, but still.... useful and good to look at. I love living here and even though I grieve for wild animals thrown out in the elements without love or care, I still enjoy seeing them when I get a glimpse. I've seen deer, beaver, fish, all kinds of birds and cranes, mice and rabbits, interesting bugs like cicadas and colorful beetles all on my prairie walks. I recommend this book to give you an overview of what to look for and education on an overview of animals. There's not much deep reading on what to do about animals or deep knowledge on how to transform the lives of animals, just basic walking through a zoo feel. It's good for people starting to learn about their environment.
