About the Author

Sara Schwebel graduated from Yale with honors in 1998, where she was a history major and features editor of the Yale Daily News. After two years of teaching eighth grade history in Alexandria, Virginia, she is now a doctoral student in the History of American Civilization at Harvard University. She continues to plan her summers carefully, searching for just the right mixture of adventure, learning, and fun.

Sara L. Schwebel is an assistant professor of English at the University of South Carolina, where she teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in children's and young adult literature. She holds a B.A. in History from Yale College and a Ph.D. in the History of American Civilization from Harvard University. Prior to teaching at the university, she served as a middle school English and American history teacher.
