4.0 out of 5 stars Old but Good
I only used the GRE one, so can not comment on the others. Using a computer-based system to prepare for the GRE is MUCH better than paper and pencil. The program itself isn't really updated from several years ago (this means find a used copy if you can), but as long as you take the test soon its ok as I believe they are not going to release a new version of the GRE with...

I was taking the Princeton Review and thought that I should get in extra practice with the Kaplan tests. I bought this CD thinking I would get a good representation of the test itself, along with some practice. It was horrible compared to princeton! The lessons didn't let you move at your own pace, the tests themselves were ridiculously hard, and the program had trouble loading on my computer the first few times. The tests are NOT indicative of the actualy GMAT. It's much harder -in a bad way. It kind of kills your confidence. I scored a good 120 on the actual test over what I got on the Kaplan one. Save your money and buy the official guide review! The book has tons of questions that you would actually see on the test.

So I initially was given the GMAT/LSAT/etc prep cd from 2003 from a family member. I loaded the CD and laughed at the outdated graphics, interface, and music. I recently came across the 06' version and decided that for a 5 dollar investment that it may be worth it considering that it should have new questions, content, and updated interface. Needless to say, I was a little dissapointed as it did not.

There were slight tweaks between the 03' and 06', but when I started to see very similar (if not the same) questions, I was a little perturbed. There seems to be very little difference between this 06' version and previous versions. Now I do not expect a complete overhaul in 3 years, but I would hope that there was something new or different.

Although, I should also state, that I later purchased the Kaplan study book and found it to be significantly more helpful than the CD-ROM. There were even hints in the book that conflicted with content in the CD-ROM.

Needless to say, this product looses two stars for not having evloved since there is a "vintage" associated with the program and for not being as helpful as other study aids. It keeps the remaining 3 stars as it does provided somewhat useful content and computer tests that help you prep for the GMAT CAT test.

Overall, I would highly suggest this for the price (around 5$) as a good study aid, along with the Kaplan book. If you plan to only purchase one, I would really suggest purchasing the Kaplan book instead.

Fantastic Item... the only thing I don't like is the fact that you can't print out the math flash cards.

1.0 out of 5 stars Same software, repackaged for the new year..., September 12, 2006
This review is from: Kaplan GMAT/GRE/LSAT 2006 Platinum [Old Version] (CD-ROM)
This is the same software that was used in 2005...and in 2004...and in 2003... I checked the files on the CD rom, and none of them were any newer than 2004. Some of the data files on the CD were from 1997! I don't think they updated the content on this CD at all. What a let down. Save yourself some money and find an old copy on eBay or something.
