3.0 out of 5 stars A good beginning book, August 27, 2006
This review is from: Kaplan LSAT 2007, Comprehensive Program (Paperback)
If you totally don't know where to start on prepping for the LSAT, this is about a good a place as any.

The book has 3 real LSATs, although they're kind of old and probably not truly indicative of the type of questions you are likely to encounter on test day.

Still, it's good for giving you a feel for the test, the sections in it and some basic ways to attack the test.

If you are serious about prep though, you'll probably want to pick up additional material on logic games and logical reasoning that are more in depth as well as tons of recent LSATs to practice with.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed!, May 9, 2007

This review is from: Kaplan LSAT 2007, Comprehensive Program (Paperback)
This book isn't as good as I thought it would be. I found the Princeton Review's "Cracking the LSAT" to be a million times better. Kaplan does a poor job in the Logical Reasoning and Analytical Reasoning sections. They only skim through the material and, honestly, their advice isn't very good. I found Cracking the LSAT to be thorough with excellent test taking tactics, especially for the Games. Cracking the LSAT has the best explanation for handling the Games that I've ever seen. Kaplan's Reading Comprehension section was better than the other sections, although not that adequate. However, Kaplan's RC section was better than Cracking the LSAT. I guess that's why I'm giving this book 2 stars, instead of just 1.

1.0 out of 5 stars Stay away from Kaplan's LSAT material, March 26, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Kaplan LSAT 2007, Comprehensive Program (Paperback)
I purchased Kaplan's Comprehensive Program 2007 Edition to prepare for the June '08 LSAT. Despite spotting numerous typos in previous publications by Kaplan, I purchased this book because the errors were not significant. In this case, however, the errors are much more substantial. I spotted three incorrect answers/explanations in the logic games section which disturbed me enough to write to both Kaplan and LSAC. Since the three included tests are supposed to be actual past administrations of the LSAT, I decided both parties should be informed. In two of the cases, the answers clearly violated Game Rules, and in a third case, the incorrect answer letter was provided, although the explanation described the correct choice. I knew something was amiss when I got 9 incorrect in the logic games sections, something I hadn't done since beginning my weekly practice sets. I combed through the answer choices, and lo and behold, the three I thought I got wrong were actually correct. At that point, I tossed the book in the can. It is frustrating to attempt to fit a "correct" answer into your thinking, only to learn after a considerable time that the reason you can't make it fit is because its WRONG. I spent a long time with the first flawed question trying to wrap my mind around the provided incorrect answer before realizing it wasn't me, but the book. Relieved to move on, I was appalled to discover the next question was the same!! A response from Kaplan confirmed they were overlooked errors. For anyone who owns this book, the questions (#4 and #5) can be found on page 302, and the answers on page 347. The third error, with the incorrect letter but correct explanation, is from a previous section of this book, which I no longer recall. Kaplan (or LSAC) MUST be more careful with these things!!
