Good starting point but you'll need to do more, May 4, 2010
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
As a career counselor I work with students who are applying to law school and there are a number of books and guides which promise to help them succeed at the LSAT. To get a complete review, I showed this book to a professional prelaw advisor for her opinion as well. Bottom line: this book is a good starting point for LSAT prep. But you need to start preparing at least 3 months before the exam.
All test questions come from real LSAT tests that have been previously administered. The diagnostic quiz is a great place to start. The correct answers are explained in detail, and the book does a nice job of breaking down the questions into different types and providing clear strategies for tackling each type. To get the most of out of this book, plan to use the online companion.
Mac users beware: we used the CD-ROM in a PC and it was fine, but it didn't appear to be Mac-compatible.
Also-- you should know that taking the 5 full length practice tests included here probably won't be sufficient practice for the exam. Go to the Law School Admissions Council (can't post website here) to purchase additional practice tests and plan to take at least 10 practice tests before the big day.
This probably won't be the only book you need to purchase, but it is a good jumping off point. Plan to start with this book at least 3 months in advance and then finish up with supplementary materials. Good luck!

Good product for the money, March 6, 2010
Not a bad use of money - especially if you aren't dropping a few thousand on actual courses for the LSAT. The CD included with the book doesn't work with any computer that's got Vista or Windows 7 on it (and may not run on some XP systems). This was a source of great consternation, and I almost returned the book until I stumbled across the instructions in the FRONT of the book for online access through Kaplan. Instructions on how to access content or find the instructions TO access the content were nonexistent and did not appear in the table of contents. However, the online access (included in purchase price) includes a number of video lessons, practice quizzes, diagnostic tests, and a couple more practice tests. The value of the online content significantly outweighs the consternation of the CD not working with my computer, and to me, the online content rectifies the CD problem.

I like it., October 3, 2009
This review is from: Kaplan LSAT 2010 Premier Live Online (Kaplan Lsat Premier Live) (Paperback)
This is the only LSAT book I have right now, but I like it. It has uses only real LSAT questions from previous exams and contains 3 real LSAT practice tests. The online stuff is mainly a tracker, a diagnostic test, some video tutorials, and some extra quizes.
It has study section on each of the different areas of the exam, then a list of practice questions. Each question is explained in detail. Then there are the three full size practice tests with explanations of the answers (these are older tests) and some extra hints and tips.
Maybe I'm biased because I used Kaplan for the ACT and got a pretty good score - but I like this book. Kind of wish I had gotten it from Amazon because I payed full list price at my local bookstore.
