Extremely unhelpful,

Basically, this product is too simple. It only tells you the drug name then some of the side effects, then some REALLY POINTLESS nursing consideration information. I really expected more from Kaplan, seeing as how so many recommend them, but I was very disappointed by this product. Save your money and write your own review cards from your pharmacology textbook. It'll be so much more help than these ever would be.

Helpful because of the organization and repetition. Although I went through these cards once, the drugs were organized by class, which usually meant the signs, symptoms, and nursing considerations were the same. Because of this, it allowed for me to flash and repeat, and thus memorize. I would recommend going through these at least once before the NCLEX, making a note of the ones you have trouble with. Thankfully, I went over the optical medications before the NCLEX, in which I never learned in the first place and I had a couple optical questions on the exam, among several others. But, I would recommend going through medications from what you're comfortable with first and then these cards. Yes, I passed the NCLEX.

Don't waste your money on these. . . The information is skimpy and useless unless you're good at rote memorization. Yeah, these may have the bare minimum anount of information needed to pass your exam, but they don't review the drug action/mechanism. I need to know that to understand the side effects/nursing considerations. The mosby cards are more detailed, and much more useful.

Too much info,

The cards had too much information on them that I did not need for the NCLEX. I found books on medications that were much more helpful. I did pass the NCLEX but did not study from these and I'm glad I did not waste much time with them.

There is an OVERWHELMING amount of information provided by this. If I had purchased this before I entered nursing school and started working with it then, I dont think I would know 1/10th of the information that is provided. Save your money and stick to reviewing the meds you learned about in school.

Not the best NCLEX study tool.,
This review is from: Kaplan NCLEX-RN Exam Medications in a Box (Cards)
The cards are thorough(maybe too much info to study for the NCLEX). What I don't like is that they're not on cardstock paper, so they're thin and hard to get hold of to pull out of the box. Also, there are no dividers to make it easy to find your way around in the box.

This is a great addition to study for the NCLEX or even during nursing school. Easy to read and has the most important side effects, interactions, and nursing care unlike drug books that have way too much to filter through!

It is a good additional tool to get ready for a board exam if you have extra time on your hands.
It contains meds category/class, side effects & nursing considerations. It does not have dividers, which makes it hard to find specific category or meds. I like a question & answer format with rationales better.

this product with everything that is said it was going to be and coming from this nurse it was too many words for me, and it made things a little bit confusing. I am a very visual person and should've gotten something that had more pictures...... Which is what I actually eventually went with. I cannot say that this is a bad product it just was not a good product for me because I am more visual than I am about reading paragraphs in paragraphs of words. product arrived with prompt shipping and was in very good condition

I was expecting more. I didn't feel that the info was completed. Missing lots of important nursing considerations. You can get the info in a book and do the cards by yourself.
