Your Step-by-Step Guide to Managing the College Admissions Process.

Kaplan's Parent's Guide to College Admissions sheds light on the often bewildering and always nerve-wracking college admissions process. From choosing the right school to paying for it, long-time college counselor Marjorie Nieuwenhuis provides the expert advice you need to guide your son or daughter through one of life's most important decisions.

* When should we start the process?
* How much should a parent help?
* What should my teen be doing now?
* How should colleges be assessed?
* Which admissions tests does my teen need to take?
* What are our financing options?
* When should we visit campuses?

Includes up-to-date advice on Early Decision, electronic applications, ethics in the admissions process, and more.

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

A Parent's Guide to College Admissions is for parents of children nearing college age who are just beginning to figure out the process of helping children select and apply to colleges. The book answers your essential first questions and guides you through the many stages: preparing for the process of choosing a college, assessing what you see on a campus visit, selecting colleges, and financing the final decision. The book also gives advice on surviving the tests, applications, and the "early decision" decision. Marjorie Nieuwenhuis includes checklists of questions you can ask random attending students ("Is the food good?" "If you had to do it over, would you still choose this college?"), advice for the campus visit ("let your child go off on his own, if he shows the inclination"), and suggestions for parents on dealing with their own emotions about their child's acceptances and turndowns. A Parent's Guide to College Admissions provides an excellent starting place that makes the task seem achievable. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.
