3.0 out of 5 stars Very good in some aspects but yet very bad in others
First off, this book offers one of the most wide ranged practice tests available for the SAT. This extensive amount of practice allows for a user to sufficiently prepare for the SAT; however, what makes this book so bad is that most of the tests that are given are hold KAPLAN tests. 3.0 out of 5 stars Very good in some aspects but yet very bad in others, September 18, 2006
This review is from: Kaplan SAT, 2007 Edition: Premier Program (Kaplan SAT (w/CD)) (Paperback)
First off, this book offers one of the most wide ranged practice tests available for the SAT. This extensive amount of practice allows for a user to sufficiently prepare for the SAT; however, what makes this book so bad is that most of the tests that are given are hold KAPLAN tests. If u have bought 2005 or 2006 SAT Books from KAPLAN ud find the exact same problems and tests. Although most of the tests are the ame, the overall review for english and math is by far one of the best out there next to Princeton Review and Barrons. I recommend this book if u have never purchased a KAPLAN SAT book before or just 1, but if you have purchased a recent SAT book by KAPLAN i would ABSOLUTELY not recommend this book unless you want some of the same practice tests

2.0 out of 5 stars This book has driven me INSANE., December 27, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Kaplan SAT, 2007 Edition: Premier Program (Kaplan SAT (w/CD)) (Paperback)
I'm not a kid, I'm a 17 year old studying for the SATs without an Amazon account. I've spent the last few weeks, primarily my Winter Break reading up on the entire book improve my scores for the SATs. And I can say that while at first this book seems helpful it strategies are generally not useful and, worst of all, it's questions can be incredibly subjective, or just plain wrong. I know, the SATs are meant to have subjective writing / reading questions, yet the stuff they put into their answers is sometimes COMPLETELY contradicted in the Paragraph Selections given for the questions. Thought it's not common, through my reading I've consistently found errors from typos / numbering questions wrong, to incorrect and badly explained answers. It's infuriating to have the answer explanation say that your choice is incorrect when you can see it right in the reading selection!

Dont believe me? Go to #12 on page 160 and look at their explanation. When you look at the sentence from the paragraph, it says, "...it binds with hemoglobin, the iron-containing pigment that gives red blood cells their color". Yet, when the question asks "What gives blood it's red color," the answer is listed as, (C) Iron. So.. I'm confused then, and I go the answer explanation to see what they have to say against the answer being hemoglobin. Hemoglobin was clearly referred to as the 'pigment' that gives the red color, and though it has iron in it, the sentence states that the pigment causes red coloration, not the iron. Yet on the explanation, they say that '(A) is a distortion'. Great. Thanks for the help. Theres plently of other examples in the Math, Critical Reading, and Writing sections of simple errors like this, and probably plenty more that I didn't see. And it will annoy the heck out of you.

One more thing, the explanations, as you might've noticed, suck. The first few examples have detailed answers (to very easy questions), and then it successively gets worse and worse.

The only reason this book gets two stars is that, overall, it'll still help since it familiarizes you with the format and questions of the SAT. The CD is nicely made, though it also has errors, and of course you get a fat 800 pages of wholesome SAT fun to get ready for the test. But length definitely came at an expense to quality. I'd reccomend getting Princeton Review books, or the official College Board SAT study books. Hopefully they're better than this book. They have to be...

1.0 out of 5 stars Barron's is much better, February 25, 2007
This review is from: Kaplan SAT, 2007 Edition: Premier Program (Kaplan SAT (w/CD)) (Paperback)
This book is mediocre at best. Kaplan's book is easier than the actual SAT, has little to no explanation for each concept, and has several errors. Barron's is a far better choice, with in-depth analysis of all the important concepts on the SAT, as well as tests which are harder than the SAT, and actually prepare you for it.
