I had been visiting colleges a few weeks before I was to take the SAT and an admissions counselor recommended this book to me. Even though I only had a couple weeks, I went through this book and found it very useful. It gives you a familiarity with the test that is very important to have. It is excellent book, especially if you do not have much time. If you do have more time, I would recommend using this along with Kaplan's SAT 1600.

All of the strategies taught in this book helped me immensely with the SAT. I took the PSAT last year and even though I got an SAT equivalent of a 1390 on the test I still wanted to improve so I brought this book. I read through the whole book carefully and studied the list of vocabulary words in the back of this book since English is not my first language (I'm Chinese) and my weakness is in the verbal part. Then I took all the practice tests in the book and on the CD and my score was consistently above 1500. When I took the SAT for the first time, my score was a 1550! This book will really improve your score if you spend time actually going through the whole book.

I studied off of the Kaplan SAT & PSAT 2002 with CD-ROM.. and i juss recently took the June 7, 2003 SAT I test. The tests in the Kaplan book were much easier than the actual test... therefore, i came out of the actual June 7 test feeling like i bombed it. The Kaplan tests indicated I got about 1240... but I doubt I got anything near that on the june 7 test. i feel like i will get about 1150... but who knows. well i was really somewhat disappointed with this book. i will write a new review on this book after my actual test score comes out... but until then, i personally didn't like this book.

I used Kaplan's book religiously to study for the SAT and I ended up getting an "F". I would NOT recommend this test guide. The book mostly consisted of information about, and pictures of, former New York Mets first baseman Keith Hernandez. But come test time, only a few questions on the exam pertained to him. I ended up getting an "F".
