This best-selling clinical reference by a world-renowned authority on hypertension was listed as the #1 reference book for hypertension by the American Society for Hypertension in 2006. Dr. Kaplan integrates the latest basic science findings and clinical trial data and presents up-to-date, practical, evidence-based recommendations for treatment and prevention of all forms of hypertension. Abundant algorithms and flow charts are included to aid clinicians in decision-making.

For this Tenth Edition, Dr. Kaplan has a co-author, Ronald Victor, MD, to handle the basic research aspects of hypertension. Highlights include new developments in the pathogenesis of hypertension; discussions on the significance of nighttime blood pressure; new information on the relationship of sleep apnea to blood pressure; updates on diagnosing primary aldosteronism; and detailed information on the latest antihypertensive drugs, including combination drugs.

Editorial Reviews

Review

Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), 19-APR-06, Volume 295, Issue 15, Paul Pisarik, MD, MPH, University of Oklahoma, Tulsa, OK -- "Kaplan's talent for sifting the enormous amount of hypertension research and presenting the important clinical aspects in a concise, readable form undoubtedly helps explain the popularity and longevity of his textbook...Besides being impressed with how current and extensively referenced the book is-the average number of references per chapter is 250-I enjoyed reading it. It has all the advantages of a single-author book: it is cohesive, has little redundancy, and flows well. I especially enjoyed the occasional passages in which Kaplan shares observations based on his experience and his admonitions to physicians, such as, 'Perhaps we can walk up that flight of stairs, just as an example to our patients.'... "Reading Kaplan's Clinical Hypertension is like listening to a wise internist. Would I recommend it to any physician who treats hypertension? In a heartbeat."-Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

This review is from: Kaplan's Clinical Hypertension (Clinical Hypertension (Kaplan)) (Hardcover)
This book is far more better then competitors such as Hypertension companion to Braunwald's Heart disease, Comprehensive hypertension and so on. This book is worthwhile to by for general internists, cardiologists and hypertension specialists. Really enjoy reading it

5.0 out of 5 stars Obra maestra, July 25, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
