Do not buy this product.. No stars,
This review is from: Kapoosh Universal Knife Block - Stainless Steel
I thought this block was cool and would solve my knife storage problems. Well it did for about a month. With regular use knives with blunt ends like cleavers bend and break the rods making it impossible to get the knives back. And very sharp knives DO cut right thru the rods leaving shortened rods that bend and turn the middle of the rods into a birds nest. The block looks like a cool invention but it doesn't work yet. I wasted $40 bucks on the stainless steel model.

This review is from: Kapoosh Universal Knife Block - Stainless Steel
My knife collection includes many different brands, and finding a single block to hold them all was impossible - until I got the Kapoosh. The Kapoosh is currently storing 8 cooking knives - including a butcher knife, curved grapefruit knife, and cheese spear; 4 steak knives; a pair of kitchen shears; and a knife sharpener. there is no way I could have gotten these into a traditional block.
The little "fingers" that hold the knives come out and really do go through the dishwasher and come out just fine - no more trying to clean the kitchen grease out of those stupid knife block slots. As an added bonus, because you can put knives in in any direction I've been able to turn the Kapoosh sideways and push it up against the back of my counter, but still have the knife handles facing toward me. My only complaint is that the stainless marks up pretty easily, but that's true of any stainless appliance, and it looks great in my kitchen. If you're worried about finger marks, though, the wood one might be the way to go.

Works great at first, not so great after a while,

I bought this at a brick and mortar. It worked great for a while and, as others have said, it's nice because you can fit all shapes and sizes of knives. After a bit, however, the "rods" start to compact and it makes inserting anything next to impossible. This leaves the blade exposed which is dangerous when you're trying to grab other knives. I've removed everything and cleaned it, but there is no way to straighten the rods.
Other issues, stainless is low-grade, but it's what you get for $50. Rubber feet on the bottom keep popping out if you move the block around. Knives sit at a fairly high angle, so if you plan on putting it under any standard-height cabinets, you will be moving it in and out a lot, reinserting the rubber feet often. I think I'm being pretty generous with two stars for this review.
