Do not buy this product.. No stars,
This review is from: Kapoosh Universal Knife Block - Stainless Steel
I thought this block was cool and would solve my knife storage problems. Well it did for about a month. With regular use knives with blunt ends like cleavers bend and break the rods making it impossible to get the knives back. And very sharp knives DO cut right thru the rods leaving shortened rods that bend and turn the middle of the rods into a birds nest. The block looks like a cool invention but it doesn't work yet. I wasted $40 bucks on the stainless steel model.

My knife collection includes many different brands, and finding a single block to hold them all was impossible - until I got the Kapoosh. The Kapoosh is currently storing 8 cooking knives - including a butcher knife, curved grapefruit knife, and cheese spear; 4 steak knives; a pair of kitchen shears; and a knife sharpener. there is no way I could have gotten these into a traditional block. The little "fingers" that hold the knives come out and really do go through the dishwasher and come out just fine - no more trying to clean the kitchen grease out of those stupid knife block slots. As an added bonus, because you can put knives in in any direction I've been able to turn the Kapoosh sideways and push it up against the back of my counter, but still have the knife handles facing toward me. My only complaint is that the stainless marks up pretty easily, but that's true of any stainless appliance, and it looks great in my kitchen. If you're worried about finger marks, though, the wood one might be the way to go.

Works great at first, not so great after a while,

I bought this at a brick and mortar. It worked great for a while and, as others have said, it's nice because you can fit all shapes and sizes of knives. After a bit, however, the "rods" start to compact and it makes inserting anything next to impossible. This leaves the blade exposed which is dangerous when you're trying to grab other knives. I've removed everything and cleaned it, but there is no way to straighten the rods.Other issues, stainless is low-grade, but it's what you get for $50. Rubber feet on the bottom keep popping out if you move the block around. Knives sit at a fairly high angle, so if you plan on putting it under any standard-height cabinets, you will be moving it in and out a lot, reinserting the rubber feet often. I think I'm being pretty generous with two stars for this review.

Just received the stainless model... Build quality and finish is excellent... matches other satin finish stainless appliances in the kitchen. Functionally, this does what I had hoped and I won't ever use a block again. As for other comments that the rods break, etc... I considered those when setting mine up and it appears that you just have to use common sense and not jam things into it. I have several ultra-sharp japanese knives and haven't seen any damage, including a cleaver. Good rule of thumb for me..when I tried unusual shapes like certain types of scissors and met some resistance, I just chose not to push it in further to test the limits of the rods. Seems that if you exercise a bit of care when placing knives in it that the rods should hold up quite well. Very pleased with this product.

Good purchase. Only wish that the product was deeper in order to hold very long knives.

This knife block holds all types and lengths of knives and kitchen shears. It fits 10-12 inch blades. The separated zones allows for safer segregation of knives.

This product is exactly what I wanted. Once you try it, you won't ever want to use a 'slotted' knife block again! I purchased two of these to replace the FOUR slotted knife blocks that we had to hold our VARIED collection of knives. Now I don't waste time trying to find just the right slot for knives when putting them back. Plus I've completely eliminated the 'irritation factor'! This is a very well thought out and designed product. Excellent quality.

Why couldn't I have thought of this...,
This review is from: Kapoosh Universal Knife Block - Stainless Steel
This really is a good idea. I have several higher end knives, electric knife blades, kitchen shears and other misc things and they all fit in this thing great. The only knife that presents a problem is the tomato knife because of the fork like design at the end but at least now it is in my knife block and I can find it to use it.

After reading a couple less than positive reviews, I decided to take a chance on this knife storage product anyway. What were they thinking? It is perfect. I currently have stored 13 knives; from long bread knives and chefs knives to small paring knives, along with a pair of kitchen shears. Plenty of room for even more if I expand the collection. It looks great on the counter - just right with my staunless steel appliances. I could not be happier with my Kapoosh !

This Kapoosh is excellent. You don't have to worry where to stick what knife into, if the block is going to break (my previous one did), and the appearance is so much better than a piece of wood.
