The ruler came bent, probably from shipping. That is not such a big deal since I was able to mostly straighten it. It doesn't lay quite flat, but it will work for my purpose.
The reason for the 2 star review however, is the stupid sticker labels that the manufacturer puts on the ruler. There was one sticker that had the UPC symbol, another sticker that had the product description, and a small sticker that stated "Made in China". The two larger stickers partially wrapped around the ruler so that it was on both sides.
Complete removal of the stickers was impossible for me. The adhesive used was too strong for the paper. When trying to remove the stickers, they would not peal off and instead they shredded into approximately 1,000 pieces. After painstakinly removing the paper part of the stickers, the adhesive was left on the ruler. I tried to remove the adhesive with soap and water, vinegar, acetone, rubbing alcohol, and peracetic acid (combo of vinegar and hydrogen peroxide). I was able to lessen the amount of adhesive, but was never able to completely remove it. It is still sticky.
This might not seem like a big deal, but I intend to use this ruler for a food application involving measure the depth of liquid that will be later consumed by humans. The adhesive will only attract dust and dirt and I don't think will remain sanitary. I will need to pay extra attention to disinfect this ruler every time before I use it.
Kapro - Have your supplier engrave the UPC code and other info on it and be done. Or since there is a hole in the end of the product, attach a tag to the unit instead.
The old ruler had larger Inch numbers and had the item number and upc code printed on it, also it was labeled "Made in Israel".
The new ruler has finer print than the old one (smaller numbers but still very visible), as noted by reviewer Tony, had stickers on it with part number and upc code - I didn't have any issues removing but do like when products have the part numbers on them if ever needed (like if I need another one). This newer model is printed on both sides whereas the original only had markings on one side.
There is no country of origin printed on the ruler, I don't remember if it was on the tag.
- it is inexpensive
- if you flip the ruler over you get the same unit of measurement you were using, but measuring from the other direction. For precision drawing this was a godsend
2 worst things about this ruler:
- it is aluminum so it bends INCREDIBLY easily. Like leaving it leaning up against the wall will put a bend in it.
- the print isn't set into the aluminum so it could potentially rub off with use. Obviously the point of this was to make the ruler more affordable.

We bought this ruler to accurately measure heat reducing window film for our west facing windows and patio door. It is well made and sturdy. So much better than a wooden ruler. Read morePublished on June 20, 2013 by Renee & Bill
