Most Helpful Customer Reviews

11 of 11 people found the following review helpful By Antonio Mustaros on September 23, 2009
Format: Audio CD Verified Purchase
A venetian with a german name, Kapsberger is the materialization of the baroque ideas of innovation, bizarrerie, refinement and virtuosism. His compositions for Theorbo and lute are astonishing examples of modernity and a very individualistic style. This recording by Los Otros is a great rediscover of the third book for chitarrone (roman theorbo) that is a joy to listen. Excellent musicians, Lee Santana and Steve Player in chitarrone and guitar, as well as fantastic Hille Perl on the Viola da Gamba and Lirone, makes a definitive masterpiece of historically informed execution with the freshness of arrangements of the continuo part and improvisations. A treasure of musical freedom and recreation.
