5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect!, August 16, 2000

This review is from: Karaoke Queen (Audio CD)
"Karaoke Queen" is one of the best, and one of the most fun, songs that Catatonia has ever done. It's bouncy and light, the kind of song you sing loudly into your hairbrush. The b-sides are great too. "Don't Wanna Talk About It" reminds me of the way I used to feel about my parents "...they say I've done it wrong again, they say I've left myself with nothing much to give, and they try and show me how to live, I must be good, repent, and forgive..." The remix of "All Girls Are Fly" is likewise fantastic.

5.0 out of 5 stars a great song!, July 18, 2000
This review is from: Karaoke Queen (Audio CD)
Catatonia didn't reinvent the wheel, but they sure know what they're doing: Karaoke queen is a sweet,up beat fun song. The lyrics are somewhat sad ("...just a three minute song, it doesn't last very long but it'll take you to a place I know you'd rather be"), and the combination of the careless "let's boogie" atmosphere of the song with the lyrics leads to a bittersweet experience that is just pure fun. The song is very 70's and is based mostly on Cerys (the lead singer) sweet voice, short guiter riffs and constant up beat drumming. If you liked this song, you'd probably like their last LP called "Equally cursed and blessed who is also very much recommended.
