2.0 out of 5 stars Fun for Glee fans but wears off quickly November 22, 2010
Edition:Microphone Bundle|Verified Purchase
Fun: 2.0 out of 5 stars
I was so excited to get this game - I'm a huge fan of Glee, I love karaoke, and I've loved all the other Karaoke Revolution games - so I thought, "what could be better?!" Well, for starters, I was sorely disappointed that there's no way to turn off the lead vocals so it's a sing-along as opposed to karaoke. Next, the song selection was not that great - I initially went through all the songs I liked in the first 30 minutes - now I'm left trying to "beat" songs like Gold Digger, Bust a Move, and various mashups. Finally, while it's fun to watch the clips from the show - they're really not that great - especially since in the show, they don't air the song in its entirety so what happens in the game is they loop the video and the same scenes are repeated. For a game that cost more than fifty dollars, I expected more. It should have included more than just the 20-something songs this game has, have more customizable options, and at least been as fun and interesting as previous versions of Karaoke Revolution.

1.0 out of 5 stars This is not Karaoke November 22, 2010
By Ed Cao

Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
You can't turn the lead vocals off. That's not karaoke. The song selection isn't so good either. Season 1 had a lot of songs to choose from and what they pick for this game is not exactly the cream of the crop despite some familiar favorites like "Don't Stop Believing" and "I'm Telling You." I expect more for both Glee and Karaoke Revolution. This game was a huge let down.

3.0 out of 5 stars Should be better December 1, 2010
Edition:Microphone Bundle
Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
Let me start by saying I LOVE Glee and was super psyched for this game. Most of the songs are from the first half of the first season, and there's no capability for downloadable content. The song selection is awfully small; this game has the vibe that someone wanted it pushed out quickly so they could start making money off of it. I would advise NOT buying this game, and waiting for a sequel release, which will hopefully include songs from ALL of season 1 (and hopefully season 2!) and have an option for downloadable content.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Karaoke December 10, 2010
By JP
Edition:Microphone Bundle
Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
The game should be called "Glee: Sing Along". You basically watch a scene from the show, and sing along with the characters. You cannot turn off the vocals and sing to just music. I agree with other reviewers; it's NOT karaoke.

2.0 out of 5 stars Karaoke??? December 4, 2010
Edition:Microphone Bundle
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
I wish I had read the reviews before I bought this for my daughter. I was shocked to find out that you couldn't mute the vocals. How is that karaoke? I wanted to hear my daughter sing, not the stars of the show. That being said, she is having a good time playing with it as she loves the show and all the songs.

3.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining, but Not Accurate January 16, 2011
Edition:Microphone Bundle
Fun: 2.0 out of 5 stars
My boyfriend and I are huge 'Glee' fans, so we were really excited to hear that this game was coming out. When he got it for Christmas, we immediately loaded it into the Wii to play it,...and that's when we became a little less thrilled. The game has numerous problems that will drive any musician completely nuts.

THE WORST PROBLEMS:

The first issue is that the timing for most of the songs is off. The scrolling lyrics will either prompt you to sing earlier or, in most cases, later than the vocal references ('Don't Rain on My Parade' is a particularly noticeable b*tch to sing). As one reviewer already pointed out, this has a large impact on your overall scores.

The second, and more crippling issue, is that the game runs sharp (by at LEAST one key), forcing the players to sing off-key. This makes the game incredibly frustrating and difficult to enjoy, especially if you're a musician. At first we thought it was the microphone we were using (we had plugged in a different 'Karaoke Revolution' mic.), but when we swapped it out for the one that came with the game, we still had problems. And to add to the frustration, if you're singing a note that's sustained for a long period of time, the pitch arrow will suddenly drop off the note tube after the first second or so, even if you never changed notes. If the timing issues didn't hurt your accuracy score, this will DEFINITELY kill it.

Also, there are some REALLY difficult songs in the game. I was surprised to find that songs like 'Proud Mary,' 'Somebody to Love,' 'You Can't Always Get What You Want,' and especially 'And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going' were included.

2.0 out of 5 stars Could have been better November 28, 2010
Edition:Microphone Bundle
Fun: 2.0 out of 5 stars
I actually had to sing flat a few times for the arrow to line up with the vocal bubble. I also expected more songs than listed on the back of the cover which says that includes these songs, NOT that these are the only songs.
I still don't understand what the point of the play modes are if I can't turn off the lead vocals and I'm singing the same songs. For $60 (game with microphone) I expected a lot more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Game November 13, 2010
By Izz
Edition:Microphone Bundle
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I just got this game in the mail today. I think it's great if you're a Glee fan. They don't have any cheesy characters, they show actual scenes from Glee episodes as you're singing. You can do several different things. You can pick a character and play through their songs, sing duets, or sing songs at random. The songs are from season 1. It's a must for anyone that likes to karaoke and anyone that loves GLEE!!!
