With the increase in music based games (Rockband, Guitar Hero) I didn't really think this would have much to offer, considering it is only singing, but I was wrong. I found the game to be highly entertaining. The song list is pretty decent and at the time of its release there were 151 downloadable songs. I suggest if you do get it buy an additional microphone (Rockband and Guitar Hero mics work) as it will allow you to play against another person, or groups of two against groups of two in duets battle. For people in my family who care less about videogames and having not only played it, but enjoyed it, it tells you the game is pretty entertaining. If you are a fan of karaoke, singing in the shower or while driving, this game will rock your socks off. It's pure simple fun for all ages. I highly recommend it as a party game or solo. Worth every cent.

This game has a weak selection of games, and to buy more, you have to spend 120 Microsoft points per game, making the game really expensive if you want new songs. You can only unlock about 4 new songs, which don't take too long to do, and after you have done that, there isn't much else to the game.

One of the best games I've brought into my home in along time. It really brought my family together for hours of fun. We play it every Sunday and haven't had a complaint about it yet

This product is excellant, has many more songs that are well known then the original.

In anticipation of receiving my new Beatles Rockband game, I wanted a second microphone for the harmony. All Rockband microphones were pricey, at least this one was reasonably priced and came with a karaoke type game(which I also like). I figured the game as a bonus to the microphone I wanted out of it. The game was really not very fun. The judges just say the same dumb, robotic things they say on the show, kind of ironic really. There is some actual footage of contestants singing the songs on the disk, which is a unique feature I guess. I have enjoyed the Karaoke Revolution games. This just adds the American Idol franchise to a dull game. Interesting for about 45 minutes, never to be played again.

I picked this game over its competition because I thought the characters, sets, judges, etc would be fun. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with one thing after another.

1) The mic included is small and wired. Since I mainly brought the xbox for kinect (wireless) and it came with a control (wireless) and the extra mic & control I brought (both wireless), I just didn't think of the possiblity of a wired mic.

2) Maybe I just couldn't get it to sync, so take this with a bit of salt, but the game said I needed another 'wired' mic to play with two people. So, the wireless remote I brought was useless.

3) It was fun designing my character and choosing the set, but after that...

4) The character doesn't move to the song. I chose a slow slong and the character is jumping around like it was a rock song. I am now in favor of having the actual or cartoon video to watch. It became distracting and boring before the song was over.

5) I did like the arrow letting you know whether or not you've hit the right key. It was like having a personal singing coach.

Overall, this game spent 1 hour outside of the box and went right back in and back to Amazon.

When I bought this game i was under the impression that all the songs listed were IN the game (looked at many reviews) but the majority of the songs actually arent. You need to purchase them with MICRO. POINTS. which makes this game way more costly. I got the game for 35 after spending 20-30 dollars on points just to get the songs i wanted its actually pretty expensive. I also dont care for the quality of the game. Compared to the GLEE games you see actual people and the scoring is really good. American Idol i think can have a MUCH better game.

I also thought you could do like a Career mode and unlock songs as you go ... but no.


But overall very fun.. and good to bring the family together for some laughs!

it is pretty much what I expected. Nice to get feedback and it does get harder on expert. Really wanted to use it on xbox live and since the game is old, there is never anyone on.

I purchased this product as a Christmas present for my nephew. The Microphone that came with the game does not work.

I bought this game for my 9 and 11 year old sisters for Christmas. The game arrived at my door within 48 hours and that was faster than expected. My sisters absolutely love this game! It was the only thing they wanted to play all Christmas day even though they got sooo many things for Christmas. Everyone said it was the "perfect gift" for them and their friends. Because it is a family game, it is more of a performance at a talent show than a competition. Great Buy!
