4.0 out of 5 stars Not As Good As Volume 3 But Still Fun January 1, 2005

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I have a few comments. First, I'm quite ticked that they have I'll Make Love To You on the disk. I would have given this disk a 5 out of 5 if it weren't for that one thing. We play this game with a 9 year old and an 11 year old. They do have it censored by saying "I'm going to take off my charm" or something instead of "off my clothes." But it helps little. (Volume 3 I have *no* complaints as far as the kids go for song choice on the disk. Read more ›

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Game!! (reviewed by a 12 year old) July 21, 2004
A Kid's Review
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I've owned this game for about a week and it is great. They have cute characters and a cool goth girl (that you have to unlock). They have all kinds of different music types. They even have a The Darkness song there for the punk rockers out there. $39.99 is a reasonble price since my parents wouldn't pay and I had to. You don't need one of those expensive $30 headsets, I bought the $15.95 Logitech Microphone and it works fine. I hope this review helps you.

Wow! What a step up from the first version! When one is playing in a large group of people, it's great to be able to sing a shorter version of the song so there is less waiting. The medly feature is also fun. Remember Bill Murry on SNL as a lounge singer switching from song to song? You get to do this too with your choice of 3-5 songs. Also, songs load much faster.
There is a big debate as to if Komami should have just put out an expansion disk and not a full new game, but with these new features, I'll take the new game!
Buy this one on day one, and also look for the new special PS2 handheld Mic! It isn't very expensive, but it will improve your scores and make playing even more fun!

3.0 out of 5 stars Wish it were more "user friendly" September 28, 2005

Fun: 2.0 out of 5 stars
Both I and my wife love the DDR style games and we thought this would be a fun blast for parties etc. My wife is a trained vocalist so I knew she would rock on gameplay, but heck, even I used to sing in a variety of garage bands. These games rely STRICTLY on pitch variations...which really stinks for people like me who can't seem to hit some of the high notes (or sustain them). It was very disappointing to not be able to pass a song by "singing" the correct words with the correct timing....most songs you can simply "hum"out loud and pass the stages.

I was looking for a simple fun party game, not vocal training. while my wife still loves them I can't recommend them for everyone. Unless you have a high pitched/tone vocal style or have a musical background you will probably be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Game! August 16, 2004
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Karaoke Revolution is a great game. I don't have volume 1 but I decided to buy volume 2 because it looked like it had more songs that I know. You don't need volume 1 for this game to work. I may buy it later to get more songs. But I think they should have a way for you to upload more songs into the game. This has a great mix of contemporary and classic songs. My socom logitech usb headset mike works fine with this game. (At first I tried the talk net internet headset but it didn't work with this game) I really like using the headset because you can dance around and really get into singing the songs. This game is great and easy to use for everyone. I play only a couple of ps2 games so i'm that great at a lot of games but this game is great for everyone.
