Editorial Reviews

Review

"Mr. Aigla has written a book that is informative and balanced. It is replete with specific references to the central writers of the Western intellectual tradition, and is written virtually in the form of a continuous conversation with them...Karate-Do and Zen is unusual among books in the martial arts in its combination of scientific learning and detachment, on the one hand, and openness to experiences that do not yield to reductive analysis, on the other." -- The St. John's Review

4.0 out of 5 stars An interesting and thought provoking book, May 21, 2002

This review is from: Karate-Do and Zen: An inquiry (Paperback)
Although I didn't necessarily find myself agreeing with every philosophical point that the author made this book was very interesting. It is entirely unique in it's examination of karate and Zen Buddhism.

I've been a karateka (and Buddhist) for over twenty years myself and I found plenty of food for thought in Mr. Aigla's comparison of the karate and Zen.
