Highly difficult, but good memories
As a matter of fact, I just played this game today. It isn't often I bust out the old Atari 7800, but today I hooked it up and started playing through my collection of games. I think I am setting it up for good now. Karateka slammed me with a whole lot of good memories from when I was a boy. Want to torture Gitmo detainees? Make them play this game!
Graphics : My God, these graphics are simply awful. The actual sprites and backgrounds are okay, but the animation is so choppy, and collision detection is so bad. As a matter of fact, I just played this game today. It isn't often I bust out the old Atari 7800, but today I hooked it up and started playing through my collection of games. I think I am setting it up for good now. Karateka slammed me with a whole lot of good memories from when I was a boy. I actually found this game to be much easier than I did about 22 years ago, since I have a much better understanding of gaming mechanics. It's still a very hard game, like most Atari games, but is very rewarding when you progress. The controlls are slow, and that's really the only hickup about the game. The game still looks great, in my opinion ( Really good for back in the day). It's a great collector item to have, and fun too.
