The S'gaw Karen language also known as S'gaw Kayin is a tonal language spoken by over one million S'gaw Karen people. They are of unclear affiliation within the Tibeto-Burman languages It is written using the Burmese script. S'gaw Karen is spoken in Tanintharyi Region's Ayeyarwady Delta, Yangon Division, Bago Division and Kayin State. The two main dialects of S'gaw Karen are Panapu and Palakhi. S'gaw Karen belongs to the Tibeto-Burman languages and a Bible translation was published as early as 1853. S'gaw Karen language is a common language for most of the Karen people.
