Not Just Half of Half and Half,

I really like Karen Voight and have most of her workouts. I was thrilled to see this workout and the Calorie Burn come out. But, I sure wish I could swap both of them for the original Half and Half workout. Neither of the new work outs have a warm up or cool down. When you turn the DVD on it simply jumps right into the workout without warning. I was so surprised because Karen's workouts are some of the best chaptered DVD's that I have. I can live without the warm up (although it would have been nice to have SOME kind of lead in to the workout), but I would have really liked for the upper body and lower body segments to be chaptered. So if you are interested in both the strength and cardio sections, just buy the original Half and Half. You'll get more for your money!

I love Karen Voight - she is one of the top 5-6 instructors in the game so I was very excited to see that she was releasing two long awaited new dvd workouts. However ...... This is the 'Firm' section of her Half and Half workout. It's not to say that it isn't a good workout (because it's great), but just don't rush out to buy it if you already own Half and Half. It's about 22 minutes or so of aerobics and you'll huff and puff and work up a good sweat. She always cues well and has such a pleasant manner. It is mostly low-impact and it not only engages your legs, but the whole body - you don't just swing your arms, but you actually use them to build a little muscle. This was actually released in 2003 so be careful in buying it, or you may end up selling it on ebay if you find it looks familiar because you already have it. Very good workout though.

Weighted Workout,
This review is from: Karen Voight: Get Firm Fast (DVD)
Karen Voight makes fitness even more accessible by combining precise movements with weights. The setting is a modern studio with tan yoga mats on a wooden floor. In thirty minutes you work your abs, legs, back and arms. You begin with Pilates inspires moves while holding weights and work your legs in a variety of interesting ways while holding on to a chair. While there are the normal exercises like squats, Karen adapts the exercises for maximum efficiency to save you time. Weights are the focus throughout the first half of the workout with an excellent segment for arms. The short segment on the floor helps you exercise your back so you can see improved posture. The most intense segment is definitely the abs workout, also inspired by Pilates. This very creative segment will have you feeling the burn and looking forward to the stretches that follow. Overall this workout is abs and arms intensive with a focus on sculpting the upper body and strengthening the lower body. You only need a mat, chair and set of 5 to 10-pound dumbbells to complete this workout. I used 5-pound weights and felt this was at least intermediate because of the speed of the exercises and the intensity of the abs workout. ~The Rebecca Review

This is an okay workout DVD. Her personality and teaching style is a little blah, but the workout is okay. I prefer Jari Love's workout DVD's by far.

Good workout in short time,
This review is from: Karen Voight: Get Firm Fast (DVD)
Karen explains the moves very well. A lot is covered in a short amount of time (a little more than half an hour). She seems to hit all the major muscle groups from arms, legs, back and abs. The only complaint I have is there is no warm up. She just starts off with the weight training session.

Yikes!,
This review is from: Karen Voight: Get Firm Fast (DVD)
This is a very basic, short workout with weights. Useful if you mix it with a cardio tape or use it on days when you are short on time. Hits all the major muscle groups. If you are beyond beginner level, you can use heavier weights than they recommend (I use 12 lbs on lower body and 10 on upper body). But YIKES! Did Karen have a lot of work done?? It looks like she definitely got implants, but did she also have a lot of work done to her face? Karen, you are so beautiful, what have you done?

best 30 minutes rutine,

The best way to know the real capacity ,knowledge and evolution of any professional is trough its work.Karen has shown trough the years how professional she is, how commited with her work she is and how much she has evolved. This DVD is great for those who has no more than 30 minutes a day or may be 2-3 times a week and wants to see fast results or for those like me who alternate. I never felt so good since I practice ASTHANGA YOGA with David Swenson and Pilates plus this body sculpting with Karen. And I think that the only implants she got was a huge dosis of happiness and a healthy life style. Oh! and the DJ is doing a much better work than in other rutines. (THANKS GOD!) |
