Book Description

Step into a mythical world and follow our heroine as she comes of age, acquires the ability to transform into a beautiful, powerful, orchid dragon, with five forces of nature at her disposal.
With her cousin, two school friends, a forest elf, house elf, and three Scottish gods she battles evil, including dangerous creatures, villains, and her own fears as she learns the truth behind the mysteries of her dragon bloodline.
Scottish Gods, magical and mythical monsters challenge our heroine along her path to enlightenment and maturity. Sent on a quest to rescue family our heroine deciphers her dead mother’s diary, and an Auld One’s tome, “History of Dragons and Magical Mysteries” which cause her to run head first into danger, mystery, and malevolent gods.
In this book, the heroine uses an enchanted kaleidoscope given to her by the legendary creatures known as sea gardeners. The tool allows her to see the aura’s, and true natures, of people and creatures.
Set in a mythological, medieval, Scotland of 1372. For those who like puzzles, written within the text are two ciphers. The first code the reader discovers is the same that our heroine must figure out, and more importantly, it is the gatekeeper to the second cipher needed to unlock Puck’s lost pot of gold.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Great Potential March 13, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Great story! Different than what I've read, a nice mix between various stories (Eragon, Harry Potter). The characters are funny and easily connectable, while the plot is exciting and new.
I also appreciated the nice mix of mythology in the story; you can tell that there was research in this area, which I find to be a plus :)

There were a few areas that seemed a little awkward in their transition that could've been smoother for the reader. And, even though I know you cut out a lot of information Robert, it did seem a little rushed; there could've been a little more depth. But, it is a young adults book, so I understand!

I don't know if it was because of my mobile version or if it was written so, but there were various grammatical errors and typos that personally became a little distracting. Probably the iPhone app, though.

But once again, a great story with great potential to become a strong and inticing series! I would like to read the next book too! Definitely ended with a cliffhanger that I want to finish!!

More About the Author

Service-connected PTSD veteran who writes fantasy in order to avoid focusing on the events that caused the PTSD. Graduate of University of San Diego, class of 1991 with a BA in Philosophy. I wrote "Karistina and the Enchanted Kaleidoscope" as the first book in the Karistina series. Robert Jackson born in 1959 is the fourth child down in an eight child family. I enjoyed putting a brain puzzle in the story for those readers who like challenges.
