For those of us who can't get enough of the Ricky Gervais Show, Karlology is a great fix! This book is no different than the last... if not better. As Steve Merchant said, it's a great book to keep in the bathroom LOL Karl's state of mind and wit are a real treat throughout the book, just as they are in the podcasts and old XFM shows. Brilliant :)

You have to be open minded and have a good sense of humor to buy this book. I bought this book as a gift for my b/f, but I actually started reading it myself and its one of those books that you read when you want to have a good laugh. I listen to Ricky Gervais podcasts on and off and Karl is basically the person that adds the comedy to the show. If you're one that gets easily offended or don't like dry humor, I would not recommend this book. The tone of the book can sometimes sound like a man-child writing in his journal. This is a very nice short read for humor.

The monkey has a new book!,
This review is from: Karlology (Hardcover)
This is Karl's third book! He's written as many books as he's read! Well, he's done it again. Another corking book filled with the drivel we've all come to love to read on the can.
Some of the genius is missing as Ricky and Steves' voices are absent and when the three are together the drivel reaches bold new heights of idiocy. But Karl's lone voice speaking his theories uninterrupted without Ricky's voice saying "Karl, Karl, Karl - where did you get this from? What do you mean the monkey drove to Spain?!" make for a much stranger but still brilliant read. In this book Karl goes for a MENSA test, goes to an exhibition of the human body featuring real life (dead) human bodies, and we get the confrontation we've all been waiting for - Karl meets his brain! And of course, there's also some monkey news thrown in. If you've been following Karl through all the media over the years (XFM, podcasts, audiobooks, the occasional documentary) some of the stuff in here are things he's already mentioned however here he's allowed to elaborate on his thoughts and also poses some new ones too. His drawings are always charming and the design of this book is really top notch. Suzanne even throws in a touching afterword. "He makes me laugh every day" she says. Long live Karl!

For those of you familiar with Karl Pilkington, the opportunity to take a walk inside his mind is a prospect both exciting and terrifying in equal measure. This book delivers just that, and is a hilarious compilation of anecdotes and stories from Karl's unique perspective on the world.
Written in a first-person stream of consciousness style and filled with hilarious digressions and misguided observations, Karlology's chapters each focus on a single trip by Karl to an exhibition or museum. In Karl's never ending quest for knowledge, each visit is an opportunity to explore a different area of academic interest, from science, to art to the human body. Each chapter recounts, first person, Karl's confused, bemused and distracted response to the facts he is presented with. Things that to any normal person would seem mundane or ordinary suddenly take on a new perspective - and hilarity ensues.

Karl Pilkington, the new Mark Twain. Witty and a great story teller. His descriptions of his adventures kept me in stitches from the first to the last page.

Funny book, but you have to have watched the series in order to picture the nonsense and the dumb voice and accent from this genius man.
If you are fan, you will get a laugh and you might even learn something about life through the eyes of a monkey.

Karl Pilkington is a comic genius and that is about all you need to know.
The man has an orange shaped head and this book will make you laugh. If you like The Ricky Gervais show you will love this book. Did I mention Karl has a head like an orange? |
