Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Billed as the sequel to the best-selling The Diamond Cutter, this slim volume lays out its Eight Rules of Karmic Management, a business philosophy predicated upon helping karmic business partners—co-workers, customers and suppliers, the world—succeed. With brief testimonials from hip-hop entrepreneur Russell Simmons and advertising executive Linda Kaplan Thaler, the guide lays out a mishmash of Eastern religions and such New Age strategies as visualizing future endeavors with a 100% success rate. Much of the book yields more puzzlement than enlightenment: the authors offer unfocused personal anecdotes, and various contradictory statements create further confusion (e.g., an assertion that the method always works is followed by the qualifying If it works, then you have a friend for life in KM). Also befuddling (and troubling) in a treatise espousing altruism toward competitors is praise for retailing giant Wal-Mart, whose evisceration tactics against rivals are widely documented. (Sept. 1)

I read this book in an hour, and followed all the directions laid out in the book. I re-read the book again, and have continued to follow the advices. My business and financial situation have improved immensely, not to mention so have my personal relationships just by using the principles and examples laid out in this book. I am in the process of reading the author's other book the Diamond Cutter. I loved this book and now give it as gifts to my other entrepreneur or friends looking to change their life. I feel that these books should be read and then re-read, so much wisdom in here!

The concept itself is beautiful but it is not practical to invest all your time and effort in helping the provider or the employee and then sit and wait for the world to throw you a bone. There is no empirical truth on it.

Karma does work just not in a way that can be scientifically measured. Cause and effect leaves no footprints. It is not a religion although it does involve the soul.

I have read about...75 or more business-type books in the last few years. From entrepreneurship, to marketing, to online business, to lifehacking, to the new rich, etc. Karmic Management (and of course the great - The Diamond Cutter) is a different type of book. A book that reminds you about what is more important.

I have spent several months working non-stop on projects, calculating every move and strategy, only to see it fail (in terms or sales or fast growth). After reading this book (and the Diamond Cutter), I reminded myself of the obvious facts of life, karma taking center stage. If you want something so bad...well give it to someone else first. If you really want this important person to work with you; well give them something first, be selfless, and your seeds will bloom on their own when the time comes. Read the book!

I bought this book and liked it so much that I bought the Diamond Cutter right after that. Karmic Management is very practical too. Its very simply written, so you can apply the ideas immediately in your life. Its not a big science here. If you want something in life, just give it to someone first and then you'll get after that. The great thing is that you do not have to give it in equal value; the intention is what it counts - it all works subconsciously; that's the beauty of it.

What I like the most is that when you give something to somebody, I feel love...I feel connection with that person. So I kind of forget that I may get something in the future. Just giving is enough. Wonderful book. Get it and change your life.

I didn't realise how responsible I was for the 'unpredictable' nature of my life and business until I read this book. But what sat me back on my heels was the revelation that things are both predictable and capable of real, systematic and enduring change, for the better! By applying the exercises and practices, the knots and blockages are unwinding, things are truly so much on the up, I have to pinch myself to make sure I'm not dreaming. Geshe Michael Roach and friends are modern unique sages.
