Biography

Nada Surf has been a band for 10 years — longer than most of their living peers have been out of a car seat. If you know your stuff, you know the story. If you don’t, here it is. We begin where all good things outside of Seattle do — in NYC:

Matthew Caws and Daniel Lorca met in high school and play around the city in a few short-lived bands, eventually forming a trio they call Nada Surf. Ira Elliot… Read more in Amazon's Nada Surf Store

4.0 out of 5 stars For Long Time Fans, April 4, 2008
This review is from: Karmic EP (Audio CD)
With Nada Surf's success over the past 5 years, they've rereleased their first EP, Karmic. Because of the band's evolution over the years, I would only recommend this EP to the band's oldest fans. It's slightly edgier with fewer pop sensibilities than their most recent releases (The Weight Is A Gift, Lucky). In terms of style, it closely aligns to High/Low.

Karmic is a post-grudge alternative recording and I love it for this. If you've been listening to Nada Surf since their MTV days in the mid nineties, this recording is for you. If not, the songs are still good, but don't expect it to be exactly the same as their newest stuff.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great EP, July 4, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Karmic (Audio CD)
This is their debut EP and is pretty good. The first song, "Telescope" is probably their oldest song judging from the style of it to their current style, but it isn't bad, semi-heavy. The 2nd song is "Sea Knows When." This is BY FAR the best song on the album, with a catchy melody and great vocals. The 3rd song is "Everybody Lies," a slower song that isn't one of their better songs in my opinion. The 4th song is "Treehouse," which is the original version of the rerecorded single on their 2nd album Hi-Low. This version has more snare drum and some differnt guitar effects and isn't quite as good as the rerecorded version, but good nonetheless. The last song is called "Nothing" and is the heaviest one on the album. It has some distortion at the beggining and isn't really too catchy, but not terrible. Anyhow, buy this album if you are a Nada Surf fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars good stuff!, September 16, 2008
This review is from: Karmic EP (Audio CD)
I just picked up this album recently, definately a must have if you are a fan of nada surf's earlier stuff. In my opinion a few of these songs are some of the best nada surf I have heard in YEARS. I cant stop listening to Telescope and Pressure Free.
