4.0 out of 5 stars Great 1st MP3 player for the price!
Although the Kaser YoFun-100 isn't quite as compact and data spacious as some other models, I don't know if you can beat it for the price and quality. Initially I had some problems with the formatting instructions, but a quick email and immediate response from Kaser pointed me in the right direction (impressive customer service-a big plus in my book). 1.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't install Driver, No Support
Wanted to use it to record voice and then transfer it to my computer. Recording seemed to work OK, but couldn't get the drivers to install on Windows 2000 nor Windows XP. The manual is the worst translated Chinese to English I've seen in quite a while, making it incomprehensible.

The Kaser Corp web site is awful and doesn't seem to provide any updated drivers. Tried...

4.0 out of 5 stars Great 1st MP3 player for the price!, September 3, 2003
This review is from: Kaser 64MB Portable MP3 Player (YF10064) (Electronics)
Although the Kaser YoFun-100 isn't quite as compact and data spacious as some other models, I don't know if you can beat it for the price and quality. Initially I had some problems with the formatting instructions, but a quick email and immediate response from Kaser pointed me in the right direction (impressive customer service-a big plus in my book). Make sure that when you first format the drive (it prompts you when you first plug it in) that you choose the "FAT" format. You will also have to reformat if you change the preset equilizer "modes" but fortunately it's a quick painless process.
Here is my pro-con list:
Pro
1. Inexpensive
2. lightweight
3. Easy to install and transfer files
4. Expandable smart media card slot

Cons:
1. No strap or clips to attach it to your body (I plan to attach some velcro for running)
2. No low-battery warning
3. USB1 cable is a little slow for file transfer (other models use the newer, faster USB2)
4. Only expandable up to 128 Mb

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Inexpensive Bare Bones MP3, July 13, 2003

After a miserable purchase of a Classic MP6410 (avoid that brand), I exchanged the Classic for the less expensive Kaser Yo!Fun 100-64.

Here's why I love it!
+Plug and play use for windows 2000 or later = very easy to use
+nice full sound quality
+small and portable size (5/8" thick, 3" tall, 2 1/4" wide)
+displays track number, time, and scrolling song titles
+128MB Smartmedia expadable
+AA battery included
+USB cable included-USB is the best method for fast song transfer
+I filled the hard drive with songs in about half an hour (the Classic 6410 Mp3 took 4 days of my life and still didn't work, that's why I returned it)
+D.C. cable port in case you don't want to use battery
+Equalizer with Normal, Jazz, Rock , and Classic settings

If I had to be picky...
-display is not back lit
-no belt clip, or any sort of strap
-control buttons are small (but well labeled and fairly intuitive :-)
-ear buds are plastic (but seem pretty well made never-the-less)

-Windows 98 requires the install of the included CD
-It makes no mention of Mac compatibility

1.0 out of 5 stars piece of junk with no support, December 6, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Kaser 64MB Portable MP3 Player (YF10064) (Electronics)
Purchased the player and it worked fine for two months of low use. Then it stopped playing music. Can move files back and forth just fine. FAQ's at their site are pitiful so I wrote tech support- no answer in a month. I just wrote again. If you want to roll dice and hope it works then go ahead but if it doesn't you are up the creek with no paddle and no place to turn for help.

I just got mine last night. So far I'm very pleased with the value I expected.
Pros: Cheap, compact, light, has dc input, and SmartMedia slot (this is a big plus). Data transfering works great. 4 equalizer settings. 3 playback modes. Very nice display.
Cons: Can only play MP3 format (not WMA). AA battery died right after 6 straight hrs of playing MP3. No battery indicator. So so sound quality. You definitely will need a good headphone with mega bass and a 128 MB memory card.

The yo fun is a piece of junk.
The UI for the downloading software is terrible.
It eats batteries.

1.0 out of 5 stars Good price/ Bad player, November 15, 2003
This review is from: Kaser 64MB Portable MP3 Player (YF10064) (Electronics)
I purchased this unit and i was not impressed.I took it home and
it worked for about one month, then one day it stoped working.Connected to the USB PORT in the back of the computer,i noticed that it was not downloading right,so i found that the internal chip had been fried, and when i tryed to exchange it,it took forever to get good sevice for the technical support team.I also found that the E.Q. had no good sound, very little bass and the treble was to high. So anyone looking for their frist time digital
portable mP3 player,My advice do not purchase this one, and don't let the price fool you. You get what you pay for.Look around for a Rio,or one like it for the same price, you will be happy you did!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Affordable player, abysmal software, November 12, 2003

This is the kind of MP3 player you buy if you're on a budget, and the bug-riddled product explains the low price - the equalizer "normal" is spelled "nomal," for instance. The worst feature I've found, however, is that by clicking the red "X" icon in the music transfer window, the software doesn't delete the MP3s off the player, but off your hard drive itself. There's no warning, either; the caption of the "X" button is just "Delete". In a worst case scenario, you could select a song on the right memory window, and delete an entire backup drive by accident.

If you're looking to save money, this is an ok MP3 player, but save yourself the headache and aggravation and pay a little extra for something a little better designed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Brings new meaning to SIMPLE and EASY TO USE!, June 23, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Kaser 64MB Portable MP3 Player (YF10064) (Electronics)
I had shopped around before deciding to give this one a try.
I found this very easy to use... no special programs (especially that obnoxious MusicMatch program). If you have Win2K or newer you need nothing else, the driver is built into the player. If you have Win98 you will need to install the driver (included). After that, it's drag and drop into the new "drive". Fast loadingp, good sound, easy to use. Has next and last song buttons, four preset EQ to choose from, and volume control. Does not have backlit or straps, but I didn't need them.
I'm very pleased.

1.0 out of 5 stars Looking for a good deal? Don't buy this, June 25, 2006
This review is from: Kaser 64MB Portable MP3 Player (YF10064) (Electronics)
I actually got this as a gift back in 2002 or so, a good few years back. Back then, it was my first MP3 player and I was satisfied. However, I soon noticed its shortcomings.

First, it only has 64MB of space. I might as well be listening to a CD Player that has the same amount or more space. The only advantage of this would be that the Kaser is smaller than the CD player. Yet although it is smaller than a CD player, it is certainly much larger than any other MP3 player I've seen. Its chunky and clumsy and feels cheap in your hands.

The earbuds are pretty bad as well. I kept the silicon covers from them, but I threw the earbuds themselves. After a few months, one earbud was louder than the other. In addition to the poor sound, the MP3 player would actually make a buzzing sound with any speakers or earphones. As the batteries died out (which didn't take too long since this thing ATE through batteries) the buzzing grew until you couldn't hear the music anymore or the MP3 player just shut off.

The worst part is that this plays limited types of files. I know it plays MP3 files... but nothing else has worked for me. Long story... but put short, it was me putting on a .wav file on the Kaser that caused it to break. Now it can't play music at all. It can hold songs and data to be transferred to other computers though. Haha... its like a super chunky USB drive. Anyways... DO NOT BUY THIS. It's a waste of your money. You will regret it.
