The Name "Kashi"
In 1984, when Kashi Company founders Philip and Gayle Tauber created their unique Seven Whole Grains and Sesame blend, they considered several names for the product: Gold'n Grains, Kushi, Graino... Finally, they decided on Kashi--a synthesis of "kashruth" or kosher and "Kushi" the last name of the founders of Macrobiotics (a whole foods way of eating/living).
Later, they discovered that the word "Kashi" has many meanings around the world. In Russian, the name means porridge. In Hebrew, the word kashruth signifies simple or pure food. In Japanese, Kashi implies energy food. And in Chinese, it means happy food. To the company, Kashi means purity and healthy nutrition, and that's what you'll find in their unique blend of Seven Whole Grains and Sesame. Kashi products are foods for a balanced life.

Price delivered to door vs big box store.,
This review is from: Kashi TLC Crackers, Original 7 Grain, 9-Ounce Box (Health and Beauty)
The entire delivered price to my door is 25cents/box more than Big Box stores in my area. There is no shipping charges. Gas to nearest big box store is 2.27/gallon currently.
Besides big box stores have discontinued many frontings in our area, substituting their own store brands. Yes there are a number of broken crackers, but they are good salad toppings and can be weighed to ensure you don't over eat. Product also had good expiration datelong enouht for our consumption

My family really enjoys these crackers from the grocery store. However, our experience receiving them mail order was that - although the boxes didn't show any damage - there were lots and lots of broken crackers inside, many more than when we buy them locally. (The crackers themselves are great.)
