This cereal is ugly. It really looks like one of those "gross" health cereals that your grandma eats as you stare in fear and awe. With great relief, however, I can tell you that it simply tastes like a pleasant mix of wheat flakes and graham crackers. The benefits of the yogurt bacteria, broccoli, and fiber are really great, too, and quickly apparent.

1.0 out of 5 stars Did nothing for my digestive system, disgusting taste
This cereal is pretty tasty. I am 19 years old and picked it up for the benefits, it was around $3 something at Walmart. This cereal tastes pretty good, I expected it to taste terrible, but it isn't. I wish it were more sugary. I am not a health nut when it comes to sugar, and if sugar is going to help make the taste less bland then ADD IT! This cereal would be GREAT if...

I do have one word of warning. There are some people who eat the half cup of cereal recommended and some people who curl up with a bowl the size of their head in front of the TV. If you fall into the latter category, understand that you have just shifted your digestive system into overdrive. This may surprise you in multiple ways, none of which I will mention.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievable, February 27, 2008
I'm a 19-year old college student who was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in September. My digestive system has been completely out of whack for years--constipation, gas, bloating, and all sorts of other issues to the point that I am not used to being comfortable, digestively-speaking (and this definitely makes it difficult to be comfortable in other areas). Doctors have told me that MS doesn't affect my digestive system. I've given up all dairy, caffeine, fried foods, processed meats, and high-fat foods (for the most part), since trying to eat all of these things seemed to aggravate my system, and the inconvenience hasn't influenced my digestive problems.

However, I bought this Kashi cereal the other day just to see what those little white fluffs tasted like, and by a few days later, I couldn't believe how well my digestive system was working. I'm actually having regular bowel movements, and I haven't been uncomfortable hardly at all, which sounds unremarkable, but in my case, it is definitely awesome.

It took me a while to remember that I was eating something with probiotic ingredients and so much fiber, so I don't think this is psychological/placeboesque, even though the turn-around is so quick and powerful that it's almost hard to believe. It's led to me do a lot of reading about the digestive system and its influence on the rest of the body, as well as probiotic research and immune system relationships with probiotics, and I really think that diet is something that can help me fight MS, even though there is no cure and most doctors currently think it is not influenced by diet whatsoever. Kashi Vive has turned things around for me and even though I might not be able to control MS with my diet (which I'm convinced I can do), the digestive improvement, if it lasts, is worth buying three boxes of this cereal a week. I've even started to drink coffee again, as an experiment, and the digestive improvement has not declined at all.

If you're having digestive problems, please try this!

4.0 out of 5 stars Tasty and good for you., April 7, 2008

DonkaDoo (The Good Earth) - See all my reviews
PROS:
--Lots of fiber *12 grams a serving*
--probiotics
--Cholesterol-free
--trans fat-free

As far as high fiber, healthy cereals this is the only one I can stand.

CONS:
--Not too pleasant to look at. It has a LOT going on. Lots of brown in different shapes and sizes.
--Lots of fiber, if you have a low fiber diet--please think of your spouse, coworkers, etc and ease your way into this one...

5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING! Simply AMAZING!, July 25, 2008
Since about age 3 or 4, I have suffered with chronic constipation. Dr's back then just told my mother to use reward charts, stuff me full of prunes and raisins, and little more was offered to help...and nothing did. In my late teens, I reached out to my Dr and was offered basically the same advice...increase fiber in my diet and try the newest laxative-like product on the market, to no avail. Finally, in my adult years, I sought out a Gastro Dr hoping to find real help only to try a medicine that helped briefly and then was pulled by the FDA because it caused women to have heart attacks! Yikes! Cut to a month ago when I received a coupon to try Kashi Vive.

Within approx. 24 hrs of trying Kashi Vive my digestive system started to work! This is AMAZING! I would normally go up to 2 weeks (sometimes longer) without a true bowel movement and one bowl of Vive had my digestive track stirring! Kashi Vive is now a part of my daily morning routine. It makes me feel like a "normal" person and without medication. I can't sing enough praise about this cereal!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Healthy Stuff!, March 18, 2008
Love this cereal and after my first box couldn't find it available in any stores near me. So happy to have found it on Amazon and with automatic shipments.

It has great fiber and the probiotics help keep everything healthy. I have it with Rice or Almond milk and that gives it just a slight amount of added sweetness. It might seems a little too 'healthy' for some, but after a few tries you will realize what good it does to your digestive system.

Enjoy!

My whole famliy loves this stuff! The kids eat bowls at a time. My husband who tends to shy away from healthy, eats this and said it tastes great. I try to get cereal that has less sugar per serving, but the other health benefits outweigh the sugar in this case. I love Kashi products, have not met many we do not enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kashi Vive Probiotic Digestive Wellness Cereal, July 6, 2010
This review is from: Kashi Vive Probiotic Digestive Wellness Cereal, 12-Ounce Box (Pack of 4) (Grocery)
I Dearly Love this cereal.. I can't believe Kashi has taken it away from us.. I love the smell of it - the taste of it.. I have been eating it for 2 years & have it 6 out of 7 days a week. Mix with 1/4 banana, handful of strawberries & blueberries & 2TBS. flaxseed meal... it will keep you regulated!!!!

When I read that Kashi was taking it off the market, I went to Big Lots & bought all they had -19 boxes..now down to 11..I only eat cold cereal from March to Oct.. hopefully I have enough to see me through!! The boxes all have an expiration date of 7/21/10 - I am praying no weird stuff develops in my boxes before I get to them... Good Luck to you all trying to find this wonderful cereal!!

Sincerely BamaGal

No, it doesn't have blueberries in it like it shows on the box. But besides that, it lives up to its promises. Probiotic for people like me who have touchy digestive systems. And really, well, yummy. I think I need a thesaurus. How many ways are there to say yummy? It really is a great way to start the day.

This cereal is our family's favorite. My kids even love this cereal. It's not your typical healthy cereal. It looks boring but tastes great!

This is a very tasty cereal. Although a little high in sugar, it is a good source of protein and fiber.
