Though honestly after you find out the.. well i'm not going to spoil it, but the downside of the "transformation" so to speak, the story seems a bit drawn out. Like they needed to stretch it out a bit, so it got pretty blurry and pointless at times but if you likes book 1 and want to know how it ends, get book 2. I enjoyed book 1 alot, I just feel like book 2 should have either been shorter or more exciting. I can't say it wasn't enjoyable, there are just times when it feels like a filler.

From the frst time I read it I fell in love with this story. I had a little trouble with the "alien" theme, but once you focus on the stories behind the characters that detail quicly becomes insignificant to the story.

Kashimashi omnibus vol.2 is the continuing story of Hazumu , the shy effeminate boy who was killed by an alien spacecraft and resurrected as a girl.
In this volume , Hitoshi the alien , now house guest and teacher , who accidentally crushed Hazumu while observing Earth in hope of saving his dying race , informs Hazumu that she only has 30 days left to live. Thus begins an emotional downward spiral. What would a person do in this situation ? Would you tell the people you loved that they would never see you again after 30 days or would you protect their feelings and not tell them? Would you live life to the fullest , go about normally or hole up waiting for your fated destiny ? What would you do if you learned your dearest friend had only 30 days to live ? Will these questions be answered ? Will there be a happy ending ? I'm not telling , you'll have to find out for yourself. I have to be honest, this was an emotionally taxing book . Wherein the first volume I finished in one sitting , this one I had to put down and take a break from . I'm going to be honest , I wept . I wasn't a total emotional wreck like I was by the end of Kanon the 2006 edition , but I was drained. I have to give credit to the writer and artist , the story was solid and the illustrations worked wonderfully at portraying the emotions . They collaborated well together to build characters you actually grow attached to and care about . There are some people who have a preconceived notion about this story , I know I did until I checked it out and to them I say you are missing out on a wonderful story. So do yourself a favor and check out Kashimashi you'll probably like it. |
