I have been using Kaspersky Anti-Virus since receiving my laptop as a birthday gift 3 years ago. I like the fact that protection is updated frequently and if the instructions are followed the software installs easily. Amazon price is cheaper than any other site I visited.

Kaspersky Antivirus may be saving me from major problems but using this product is a headache.
It often fails to do updates correctly resulting in "corrupted databases". Then have to repair the system and sometimes have to re-install.
The system page will not show up on the screen unless you load the help program first (using the applications lists in Windows 7).
Updates on Parallels 6 drive this program nuts.

Tried to find other antivirus software which would protect the Windows 7 running with Parallels on my iMac, but TrendMicro would not commit that their program would work.
Can't stand Norton - bad experiences with intro of Vista - so didn't even look there.

Yes, I believe we need protection so this is our only choice - but it is less than user friendly.

I've had this program for a little over 6 months, and I have to tell you, I'm not impressed. Kaspersky installed easily enough, but it makes me hold my breath every time I start up my laptop because it slows it down enough to cause it to freeze. The user interface is confusing, and it will perform actions without asking you first. It will also alert you of threats in the reports, but won't allow you to take action. I've also heard that it interferes with certain firewall and anti-malware programs, although I haven't had any problems with that (that I know of). I would not recommended Kaspersky at all.

Some of the Kaspersky help files may go a little over my head with their discussion of heuristics (I haven't thought much about heuristics since my college days), but overall this is a solid product. Indeed, right from the word go Kaspersky detected two low security threats that Norton hadn't detected; and that impressed me. The software is generally easy enough to use although reviewers are right when they note that Kaspersky often takes action before I even get enough time to read the message that flashes across my screen--it all goes so fast! Going back to the bright side, updates are very frequent, much more so than either Norton or McAfee; and I really like that.

Scanning a CD-R for files that could be infected is easy enough, too--just open up the CD-R files and folders and then drag them as folders or individual files from your desktop to the green area of the Kaspersky circular icon at the top of your screen. Kaspersky can scan it very quickly. Sure, the help files could have been written using much more plain English; but they are comprehensive and extensive help files nevertheless.

Overall, if you use this product you'll have excellent protection from just about any threat to your computer. I recommend Kaspersky primarily because it detects more threats than Norton or McAfee did; and the software updates are more frequent, too.

I use this utility on my Mac mini (OSX 10.6.5) in unison with Parallels Desktop 6/Windows 7 Ultimate, and it performs admirably. It's the only antivirus software I'll ever use with this configuration.

Previously, I used Trend Micro which came with my ASUS laptop but compared to Kaspersky it's really bad.

Kaspersky detected things that Trend Micro didn't, and it detected a program that was the source of all the spam that my e-mail address was sending (which I figured out on my own anyway).

Anyway, it also intelligently filters which activity on the computer is legitimate and which is harmful while at the same time giving you a small notification in the bottom right corner of the screen (for legitimate activity) if it detects such activity.

Kaspersky also maintains a small footprint in the system so it doesn't slow down my computer, I manage to play games on my laptop and still manage to get good frame rates.

PC World Magazine reviewed this product a couple of months ago after I had bought it. They agree with me that this product is a resource hog. I have an Emachines desktop, 3 GIGs of memory, 320 GIG hard drive, with Windows Home Premium. When I open my, "Security Center", Windows can't 'see' the Kaspersky software. Kaspersky also is the last software to load to my system tray, slowing the boot time.

I was running AVG Anti-Virus Free before this monster. But I wanted more protection.

If you buy this product, make sure you have the horsepower to drive it.
