I love Kapersky because it is so much less obtrusive than norton anti-virus, the omnivorous system resources hog. I used to own five copies of Norton for all of my computers, and dumped them all for this. If you have multiple computers, the three user version is a deal. I also like that I can get at more of the settings -- Norton's user interface hides everything in frustrating ways for the power user.

Kaspersky Antivirus 2009 - 3 User Edition was used for my portable and home computers. Was easy to install for a non IT guy just follow the suggested install process, register, and viola! I removed Norton and replaced it with this. Norton did not live up to their product history.

This Item Really Bites,

Look, I bought this thing to replace a product I believed no longer effective. First I had to uninstall that old virus protection program before I could install Kapersky. Meanwhile my system was unprotected--a situation I don't like, and it took some doing to install and configure Kapersky.
As if that weren't inconvenient enough, after I had it installed I found out the new version Kapersky 2011 was available and it downloaded all 148 Megs or so of it to my computer. It took a long time. Then I had to reconfigure a bunch of stuff. After installation my Firefox went nuts and slowed to a crawl, IE 8 did about the same and the whole computer slowed to a crawl. I checked my system for spyware, adware and viruses and found that while Kapersky had been on the computer no fewer than 700 plus instances of spyware and adware had managed to find their way onto my computer. No wonder it slowed. The final straw was when Kapersky reported three infections and couldn't remove them. I carefully followed the instructions in the Help facility and it still showed the same three issues and still could not remove them. By this time I had numerous hours of time I'd hope to use for work stuff invested in installing and wrestling with Kapersky. Kicker is it's a Russian product (Isn't Russia known for its hacking abilities?)and if you want to talk to a human you're going to have to dial a number in Russia and hope to hell they answer in English. Bottom line is I removed all traces of it from my computer (another half hour down the drain) and installed ZoneAlarm which installed flawlessly, works perfectly, found the issues and removed them and is, as of this moment, happily blocking all spyware, adware and viruses. In my opinion, Kapersky made me waste a lot of time I needed for real work stuff, made decisions about what I could and could not do without ever asking me and was a general nuisance. If you are looking for virus protection and other stuff to keep your computer safe, do a little research before you decide to jump on this product.
