I love Kapersky because it is so much less obtrusive than norton anti-virus, the omnivorous system resources hog. I used to own five copies of Norton for all of my computers, and dumped them all for this. If you have multiple computers, the three user version is a deal. I also like that I can get at more of the settings -- Norton's user interface hides everything in frustrating ways for the power user.

Kaspersky Antivirus 2009 - 3 User Edition was used for my portable and home computers. Was easy to install for a non IT guy just follow the suggested install process, register, and viola! I removed Norton and replaced it with this. Norton did not live up to their product history.

This Item Really Bites,

Look, I bought this thing to replace a product I believed no longer effective. First I had to uninstall that old virus protection program before I could install Kapersky. Meanwhile my system was unprotected--a situation I don't like, and it took some doing to install and configure Kapersky.
As if that weren't inconvenient enough, after I had it installed I found out the new version Kapersky 2011 was available and it downloaded all 148 Megs or so of it to my computer. It took a long time. Then I had to reconfigure a bunch of stuff. After installation my Firefox went nuts and slowed to a crawl, IE 8 did about the same and the whole computer slowed to a crawl. I checked my system for spyware, adware and viruses and found that while Kapersky had been on the computer no fewer than 700 plus instances of spyware and adware had managed to find their way onto my computer. No wonder it slowed. The final straw was when Kapersky reported three infections and couldn't remove them. I carefully followed the instructions in the Help facility and it still showed the same three issues and still could not remove them. By this time I had numerous hours of time I'd hope to use for work stuff invested in installing and wrestling with Kapersky. Kicker is it's a Russian product (Isn't Russia known for its hacking abilities?)and if you want to talk to a human you're going to have to dial a number in Russia and hope to hell they answer in English. Bottom line is I removed all traces of it from my computer (another half hour down the drain) and installed ZoneAlarm which installed flawlessly, works perfectly, found the issues and removed them and is, as of this moment, happily blocking all spyware, adware and viruses. In my opinion, Kapersky made me waste a lot of time I needed for real work stuff, made decisions about what I could and could not do without ever asking me and was a general nuisance. If you are looking for virus protection and other stuff to keep your computer safe, do a little research before you decide to jump on this product.

This product is highly rated by tech sites but my experienece was bad. It would not install. I believe the individual specimen was faulty. I called the vendor and was told to call customer service in Russia-no toll free number. I eventually got my money back from Amazon but the vendor should be struck from the Amazon rolls. I'm afraid the product is probably a great security suite but its failure to install plus the vendor's surly attitude forces me to rate the product according to my individual experience. Microsoft provides a free alternative (Microsoft Security Essentials) which is as good a security protection as any I've used in twenty years.

The item I purchased was really useful and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an antivirus software. The only problem I had with my particular order is that I didn't actually get a full year's subscription.

Use KAV 2007 in the past and never had a problem with it, so when it came time to upgrade I knew it would have to be KAV 2009. Uninstalled Avast Pro and KAV installed with zero problems. Entered in the key and it updated right away and scanned for about 2 days (lots of files on my PC). Also uninstalled Norton from the wife's lap top and installed KAV again with zero problems, it scanned her HP w/Vista premium in a couple of hours. Runs smooth and updates every hour. Fells good to know you are safe from viruses. Great program and for $30+/- for 3 users it an awesome deal.

You can download the 2010 version from the internet(trial) and then when you get this use the key code for up to 3 computor's and still have the 2010. Cheeper then buying the new one.

This is a great Antivirus, I'd recommend it in a heartbeat. This and a bit of common sense will keep your computer virus free. The 3 user edition is a great option and the license for each computer ends up being really cheap.

I have owned this software for about two months. My Norton subscription ran out and after reading reviews I found that Norton was not rated very high. Also, I read a review which said that Norton interfered with my home network- and I have been having trouble accessing the other computers on my network. Now that trouble seems to be gone. This software doesn't bother you much except on my computer that doesn't get used very often. On that one, after I have not used for awhile it wants to update the profile online but I guess that is a good thing!
