Better than I expected...real wood and a Regula movement,

This review is from: 71B Kassel Black Forest Cuckoo Clock
I was VERY hesitant about buying this cuckoo clock because there was so little information in the description (or on the 'net) and only a single picture. Eventually I decided that for $119 shipped I would take a chance.
I'm glad I did. It is a nice little wood clock that has a genuine made in Germany Regula movement (25-A). The wood for the case is a laminate, but it is very good quality (not like plywood) and the bird and leaves are solid carved wood. The hands look like wood, but could be plastic (if so, they are VERY convincing). The numbers are stamped (or possibly silk-screened) onto the face. The "cuckoo" sound is traditional two-toned and very pleasant. It is stamped "Made in Germany" on the back of the case, and has a "VdS Certificate of Authenticity" sticker on it which verifies it is a genuine Black Forest cuckoo clock. It isn't perfect...some of the carved parts are a little rough at the edges, you can see a few of the finishing nailholes, and the numbers on mine have a couple of very slight imperfections. Nothing critical, and I think I'm the only person that has even noticed. It does NOT have a nighttime feature (to turn off the "cuckoo" sound while you're sleeping) so we've just been stopping the pendulum at 8:00 PM and starting it again at 8:00 AM. It arrived double-boxed in good condition, and has well-written instructions. Everyone who has seen it so far loves it, and the kids are fascinated by the bird and cuckoo sound (and I suppose I am, too). Would give it a 4.5 if that were allowed. Note: several vendors are selling this one, but the place I got mine from is "Sell it Up!"

Kassel Cuckoo Clock Review,

I have had this clock now for over a month and it is wonderfull. The only reason for giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I can't seem to regulate it. Over a few days the clock is either a few minutes fast or a few minutes slow (it is not a digital clock I know). Other than that, the clock works well and sounds great. As long as you don't use this clock as your primary time keeper and don't mind adjusting the time every 3-5 days, I would highly recomend it for the money.

Cuckoo for this Clock,

This clock was much better quality than I expect to get for the price. It is worth every penny. For a little while, I had to play around with the carved leaf-slide on the pendulum to get the faster/slower time set, but it worked pretty darn well. The natural hand-carved front pieces make this an authentic joy to own. The tone of the ticking and of the "cuckoo" are gentle enough so they are not at all abrasive ~ quite comforting actually. I probably won't use it often, but the switch to turn the Cuckoo on and off was a bonus that I wouldn't have even thought to look for.
My kids and their friends just love it, too. It took each of them a couple of days of diligent attempts before they finally "caught" the bird in time to see him stick his beak out of the door. Just to note: I told my kids that there used to be Two birds in the clock. One was named 'Pete' and the other was named 'Re-Pete'. In a sad accident, Pete fell out and, well, you know who was left. To which they inevitably respond, "REPEAT!" So I explain again, "there used to be two birds in the clock. One was named 'Pete'...". My oldest informed me that it is not the clock that is cuckoo.
