Buy it, Read it, Love it!,
This review is from: Kasumi 2 (Paperback)
I really, really, love this series. I don't think the characters are stereotypical at all. Also, there are a few Japanese words in there. I guess I didn't really like that part, but it was only a few words and it isn't a big deal anyway. I really like the plot of this series. Some characters have their own "super" power. If you like those kinds of stories, you'll love this one too! In this volume, you learn a bit more about the male characters. It is still at the beginning of the plot however, but it is slowly progressing. The setting is at a high-class, elite school, which is another big plus. Anyway, I really enjoyed this volume, and I give it a very high recommendation.
I recommend X-Men: Misfits Volume 1 if you like this series!

i am completely obsessed with this manga. some people wrote that there are very few japanese words. yeah, there are like 3 in the whole book... but if you look closely there will be a translation of the word in a very small font somewhere in the same page where the japanese word is. If you like books about turning invisible you'll love this one (because kasumi (the girl) can turn invisible. and theres other people in the book who have powers like kasumi that are known as gifted. just saying what the book is about. I really enjoyed all of it. definitely need to buy it. I hope i helped give some info about the book! ;P

I enjoyed volume one...but..,
This review is from: Kasumi 2 (Paperback)
I really disliked volume 2 and had a handful of problems.
For one, the translation is horrible. Using "Onegai", "Gomen" and "Bishonen sempai" in the dialogue made me want to puke. How hard is it to translate "Please", "Sorry" and "Good-looking seniors"? I felt as though it was catering to the handful of japanophile's who work japanese into their speech. It's really stupid sounding. I digress. The story is also a major problem. In volume 1, I felt as though the story had a lot of potential. It left off on a good cliffhanger and terrific art. While the art may be terrific still, the story took one too many confusing turns. A large introduction of characters and new themes about a tree god and conflicting groups really make the high school life, mean girls, and stoic hottie stereotypes a term of endearment. The idea of a girl having the ability to turn invisible when she holds her breath is a great concept and was fully exercised in the 1st volume, but has sadly taken a backseat to a confusing mess. I suggest not buying this unless you REALLY enjoyed volume 1. |
