Book Description

~ Western Romance from bestselling Texas author Celia Yeary ~
U.S. Marshal Diego Montoya rides into Old San Antonio on an assignment to track down and arrest a swindler and killer. That's his job. But his first goal is to visit beautiful Katherine Garrison, the woman he loves, to learn if she will welcome him.

Kat Garrison answers the door, thinking her gentleman friend has arrived early. When she sees Diego Montoya instead, she can't believe he's standing on her front step. All she can think of is their encounter in the barn that cold December night, while her brother and new bride occupied the house.

While carrying out his mission, Diego becomes involved with Kat. But can a beautiful society lady really love a homeless rough lawman enough to take a chance on a life together?

Chapter One
Kat Garrison stood in her parlor and studied each and every decoration she'd worked on all week. The room, in her opinion, looked more spectacular than any previous ones in her home. The colorful baubles, silver swags, and red paper flowers draped over the window and fireplace blended into a creation worthy of any mansion in San Antonio. As if there were any.

She lifted the watch on a gold chain around her neck and checked the time. Four o'clock. Her beau should arrive within the hour. She had just enough time to change into her mauve silk dress, the one with the newest fashionable bustle and three rows of lace around the hem. Her hair was swept up perfectly; one less item to do.

The knocker on the front door rapped loudly. He's early! And I'm still in my work dress and apron. Well, fiddle.

When she opened the front door and peeked around the edge, she was shocked to see the man who stood there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heartwarming Western Romance July 26, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Yeary entertains with her latest dime novel, "Kat and the US Marshall." Set in San Antonio, Texas, lawman Diego Montoya catches up with his old flame, Kat Garrison, but does his way of life threaten his budding romance with her?

Diego is on the hunt for a criminal who steals, murders, and beats women. He thinks he's found his man with Winthrop Blankenship, but Blankenship appears soft on Kat Garrison. Diego wants more from Kat, but doesn't want to put her danger, though she owns her own colts. Can Diego and Kat meet in the middle or will his job keep them apart?

Yeary's writing style is sharp and engaging, grabbing the reader at the get-go. Her narration gives the story a very authentic touch. The most enjoyable part of the story were the characters. Diego and Kat shared an easy, witty banker that came naturally to them and I felt like I was watching two dear friends finally admit their love for one another.

The story is sensual for romance readers with Diego and Kat sharing heated kisses and sensual situations. This is a short and I read it very quickly. "Kat and US Marshall" will keep the reader turning the pages to find out what happens next. I highly recommend this romance.

4.0 out of 5 stars Short but sweet! July 22, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a cute, we'll-written story, short but sweet, about a strong woman named Kat who lives in San Antonio in the 1800's. She loves Diego Montoya, a US Marshall, who trails a vicious lawbreaker to her town. His suspect, a man who likes to beat up women, steal money from folks in every place he's lived, and burn down whorehouses to cover up his misdeeds, is pursuing Kat. And she agreeable--until Diego shows up. Then things change rapidly. I'll let you find out the rest for yourself. And you'll be really glad if you do. This book is a short read that leaves you feeling glad that you took the time.

Ms. Yeary's short romances are a delight. Within a few chapters, she easily transports her readers back to the old west, putting them alongside the hero and heroine as they fight for justice and a happy-ever-after. Kat and the U.S. Marshall will not disappoint fans of the western historical romance genre.

5.0 out of 5 stars A delightful short read April 7, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Kat Garrison is a lady, but she's also wealthy and a crack shot with a rifle. She's determined to conquer the West, and San Antonio, on her terms, but a kiss from a certain US Marshal stays in her thoughts.

Marshal Diego Montoya has come a long way from his rough upbringing. He knows a good thing when he sees it, and Kat is the best thing he's ever seen.

Diego's investigation puts him and Kat at odds. Will the marshal get his man and lose his woman?

Yeary squeezes a lot of emotion and characterization into this charming novella. Kat is a woman who I would very much like to be one of my friends. Recommended reading!

More About the Author

Celia Yeary is an seventh-generation Texan. Her life revolves around family, friends, and writing. She is a former science teacher, mother of two, grandmother of three, and wife of a wonderful supportive Texan. Celia and her husband enjoy traveling during their retirement years, and both are involved in their church and community.

"I love cold days only if I'm home in front of my fireplace. A few of my favorite things are Italian Nachos, coffee with a good friend, taking snapshots of our three young grandsons, and finding the perfect novel to read. Extreme poverty, abused children and animals, and dishonesty make me very angry and distressed. If I could have one wish it would be a home for every child in the world."
